Billy Joel – Sometimes A Fantasy Lyrics

I think it's him trying to tell his girl he needs a little spice while he's away from her. And if she's not going to get it from her, he's going to live a fantasy with a sex hot line |

Billy Joel – You May Be Right Lyrics

I am this guy and I find myself in this situation, but not with the same coyness and success of Billy. But yeah, It's a fun guy trying to get a girl to like him for his kookiness. It's actually a nice message when you think about it |

Steely Dan – Rikki Don't Lose That Number Lyrics
| 11 years ago

I am well aware that this is obviously connected to one of Fagen's past endeavors. But when I first processed this song in my mind, I did think it was a person trying to push Rikki into doing some bad things, whether that phone call was for prostitution or drugs (both very popular themes in Dan songs).
"You tell yourself you're not my kind, but you don't even know your mind" -
Rikki obviously knows calling that number would be immoral and wrong, btu the narrator thinks he could get him to give in
"And if you have a change of heart." -
This man thinks Rikki is the type that could break eventually and give in |

Supertramp – Child of Vision Lyrics

I think it could be said that this song could be an example of how far-fetched we view the American Dream. Sure we all have different ones, but we never have difficulty blowing them out of proportion. In all fairness an AMAING song, the piano, so sharp, and the drums add to the drama of it. It's been said that the theme of this album, Breakfast in America, is taking sad lyrical songs and putting them with up beat tunes. But I really think that this song has both an ominous tone and ballet. And I think that it really adds to the song. It gives it the meaning that people can become so brainwashed by everything in society, they don't know how they want to live their own life. |

Supertramp – Casual Conversations Lyrics

A song about a falling relationship, one that could be related to a situation in this very band. Whether it's love or friendship, this song clearly explains that a lack of contact between the parties is most likely going to end up in the two splitting. |

Supertramp – Just Another Nervous Wreck Lyrics
| 11 years ago
|
The lyrics above missed a line: "Soldier, Sailor/ Loser, tailor." Not that it has much to do with the song, the song exemplifies the pros and cons of the Hollywood scene, but mostly on the way it ruins the way people think, especially when they have money. This man is obviously fed up, and the energy of the refrain makes it seem as though he wants to start a revolution. The meaning though is that though Hollywood stars may look amazing and happy, everybody has their own fears and personal battles, and truly that those who neglect those are truly the nervous wrecks |

Supertramp – Lord Is It Mine Lyrics

Lots of lines missing in the lyrics above, but the son itself is truly amazing. Touching, subtle. We all have times in which we look to anything for help, and in this case he is asking god. The song is easier to understand when you've had a situation that has left you asking god, "Why?" |

Supertramp – Take The Long Way Home Lyrics

This song explains that we all have dreams, no matter how big or small, but reality will always come and kick you to the curb. People, such as the narrators wife, will make you doubt yourself, but taking time to be alone and find yourself, (hence, taking the long way home for extra thinking and breathing room, I do it all of the time," gives you the chance to make yourself who you want to be. Moral of the story is, that you need to be the person you want to be and not the one others want to see |

Supertramp – Breakfast in America Lyrics

This song is just the way foreigners dream about the American Dream, and it relates to how Americans dream about big European cities in Paris and such. We're all brainwashed with how we think things should be instead of trying to appreciate what they are. No one is happy where they are in their own life, and always dreaming of another |

Supertramp – The Logical Song Lyrics

This song is a masterpiece in explaining the inequality of the individual. Though America has been against communism fro decades, it still finds a way to beat social and economic standards in your face while watching you fall at the same time. In America it merely isn't being free and living your life, it's getting to your job so you can pay the government your taxes. |

Supertramp – Gone Hollywood Lyrics

This song is a story from the narrator's point of view, who started off thinking the Hollywood life would be all that and a bag of chips, but realizes that it isn't all that it's cracked up to be. He still feels this way even at the end of the song as he becomes a start and a success. |
