There is another theory that the line, 'And while the King was looking down, the Jester stole his thorny crown', actually refers to Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis who, after Elvis was drafted into the army and was posted to Berlin, became the King of Pop. This scenario was also depicted in the movie 'Great Balls of Fire' the story of Jerry Lee Lewis, (played by Dennis Quaid), in which Elvis, after returning from service in Germany, went to Jerry Lee Lewis' hotel room and simply said, 'Take it all. Take the whole damn thing.' and promptly left. During Jerrys' height of fame, he was referred to as 'The Jester,' because of his wild antics while playing the piano on stage. |
