Mark Knopfler – So Far From the Clyde Lyrics 11 years ago
Mark Knopfler has fantastic lyrical innuendo.

This song is evident of that, having served on ships across the world, i understand where he is coming from, the ship you sail; on is your home and living for a voyage, it becomes part of the family so to speak.

So when it eventually goes to the breakers at the end of its service life and in a way as described in the song (PULL out her cables, HACK OFF her hatches) its almost a destressing site of eeing a loved one removed after such service to your self and the rest of the crew (A BLOODY whale on the shoreline) (They swarm on her carcass with torches and axes)

Its a fantastic song with nothing to do about the economy just love in a different sense,

Most ships were built at the clyde ship yards in the past, however it could quite easily have been any british ship yard (Falmouth, Newcastle, Hull etc)

Mark Knopfler – What It Is Lyrics 11 years ago
Edinburugh was a fairly cultural city in Dickens time as to was London, part of the British Empires' greatest cities, it also attracted engineers, philosphers, doctors lawyers, etc and also novelist and romantics. C Dickens was one of them i'd imagine.

The Gaslight Anthem – Here Comes My Man Lyrics 11 years ago
fantastic song...fantastic group

its actually very unisex, i'm going through a very similar relationship with my lass,

the description in the lyrics are exactly the way i was questioning myself when we have our spats before i had even heard the song,
The whole song is great insight in to someones mind in a relationship of misplaced trust or suspicision.

Lines like:
Maybe time will tell you
Why I got so much hell to sell you

are spot on the money to signature a song like this

Don't you think I knew about all your pretty girlfriends
But I waited for you, gave you time to decide
But you never saw it from anybody else's side
So I packed up my things and I faced up my doubts

this wasn't written in naivity, the writers have been there and got the t-shirt for similar bad relationships along with anyone else who is reading this who have been there too,

Don't you think I knew about all your pretty girlfriends
But I waited for you, gave you time to decide

This line in particular can be seen by both sexes, a woman of insecurity or a man focused on winning the lass that he has set his heart and attentions too

Overall a great listen and relating song.

hope they can produce more just like this :-)
