Seal – Crazy Lyrics | 2 years ago |
From the mouth (or keyboard, rather) of Seal himself, who posted explanations of the lyrics on the website Genius: "A man decides after seventy years That what he goes there for is to unlock the door" Seal: This is a reference to Gorbachev going to meet the Pope, in 1989—the first time in 70 years that somebody from the Soviet bloc had any kind of dialogue with the Catholic Pope. "Crazy yellow people walking through my head One of them's got a gun, to shoot the other one And yet together they were friends at school" Seal: Tiananmen Square—it was the students against the soldiers and it was soldiers against students. |

@[gatti:38349] Very interesting interpretation with the Aldous Huxley thing, BUT it's wrong. Porter Robinson – Sad Machine Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song is a reference to the Portal game franchise by Valve. In the game, the player is a woman who had been cryogenically sleeping in a deserted test laboratory ("I don't know much about your life beyond these walls, the fleeting sense of love within these God-forsaken halls") and is suddenly woken up ("This girl who's slept a hundred years has something after all") by the lab's artificial intelligence system - GlaDOS - which has a female voice ("since you've awakened her again"). Later it is revealed that GlaDOS killed all the scientists in the lab ("Who survived? Somebody new? Anyone else but you?"). The song's name "Sad Machine" refers to GlaDOS. The first line ("Is anyone there?") is famously repeated by the game's security drones. Also, the girly robotic voice that says it sounds very much like the voice of said drones. |
Above and Beyond – Miracle Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The meaning is quite obvious. It's about how we're killing Planet Earth with our selfish actions. "Don't they know that there's something going on? What they're harming with their indecision..." Don't the politicians see the signs? Don't they know that their indecision to take measures against consumerism, deflorestation, pollution etc. is harming the planet? "And it's too easy to turn a blind eye to the light And it's too easy to bow your head and pray" It's too easy to turn a blind eye to the obvious, to what we don't want to see and admit. It's easy to submit to the will of the politicians and just pray to god instead, as if he wouldn't let the planet get past the point of no return. "But there are some times when you should try to find your voice And this is one voice that you must find today" You must find the strength to speak up and make your voice heard, for the sake of the planet, you and me. "Are you hoping for a miracle? As the ice caps melt away..." The "ice caps" bit is what completely gives away the point of the song, although the song is still obvious without it. |
Metric – Artificial Nocturne Lyrics | 11 years ago |
You are mistaken. The lyrics is indeed "call" not "con", as can be seen in the official "metricmusic" upload of Artificial Nocturne to Youtube, which features lyrics. You can't know more than the authors :) |
