I honestly see this song being two separate separate point of views. The first part trying to explain that they're too messed up and that they are the person as innocent and don't want toncorruot them so they push them away. The second pov is what was a result of what that person did to them. They were devastated but recognizes what they did was cowardly, they didn't fight for the relationship and instead chose to run. They wish that they could hurt the person who hurt them but now all they can do is put up their wall so high, that person never has the ability to devastate them again. |

@[lovehimmarriedhim:2959] exactly how I feel! Maybe it pertains to my choices in life. I was scared, too scared because no one was ever there for me. I grew up alone with no guidance and was unkived to to my mothers addictions. I finally was old enough to leave and took it at the first opportunity. I met someone who was the best thing to ever happen to me. Because of how I had been treated my whole life, I started to doubt myself and him. I shut down and broke not just me but him as well. No life has turned out in a way different direction. I've led a life of unhappiness and pain and suffering. Made sense to me, my pound of flesh as you will. Still after all these years I can tell you I live him with all my heart and there isn't a day that goes by that my body doesn't physically ache for him. I wish I knew I'd he still thought about me or ever lived me the way that I loved him. How i acted and subsequently treated him will always be my biggest regret. |

People say you can talk to them but no one has actually been in your situation, so they can never really understand what you've been through. The messed up thing with the inbikity to love due to not feeling worthy of it or being too scared comes from something or someone in your past. I know for me, the fact that I was so scared led me to push away the only person who meant anything to me and I think unfortunately I broke both of our hearts because of it. I see this song as the person who doesn't feel worthy of the love trying to come to terms with the decisions that they made. |

For me, this song is very personal. I see the first verse as someone telling themselves admitting their faults, knowing that they will never have another chance. No matter who they meet in life, he will always be the only person in her eyes. She is saying that he is love, but she doesn't have the ability to love in return so she is closing herself off to protect her heart. The next verse she is saying it would be better to pretend it never happened, but then she has these flashbacks of their time together. |

I think this is a person who is struggling with a huge internal conflict. At night they are left alone with the monsters inside their head. They have some regrets in life, maybe just bad timing with a person that they love. They obviously wish they could go back to better times, but they know this is not the case and have to find a way to make peace with it in order to move forward. The problem is that they aren't ready to move on because they are still hoping for a chance to make things right, a chance they will never get. |

I think this is about a back and forth friendship. It seems like the girl has feelings about her best friend and every time she thinks he might feel the same way he shuts down again leaving the girls head spinning. I dont know maybe its because I am in a situation very similar to this. I am stuck and cant get out at the moment. I have been on medication to keep my head above water for awhile so I can get myself mentally where I need to be. It helps numb the stuff that was once too much for me to handle, making me so fragile I couldnt take one more hit. I felt like my well had run dry, Now I have my plan in place and leave for good. I have to walk on eggshells and "pretend" everything is ok when it really isnt. I have to dissociate myself just to make it through to the next day. Pretty soon it will all be over and I will finally be happy again. |

I think this song is about the cycle of a toxic relationship. In the beginning the one person was open and honest with how they thought or felt and the other respected and admired it(or so they said) I think sundrenched world refers to the honeymoon phase where everything is perfect. As time goes on the one who was open and honest in the beginning is now living a life of regret because they fell for the manipulation. The line "it couldnt be worse, dont bother asking, here comes the nurse while im trying to bask in your sundrenched world just seems like so much has happened because of the manipulator and that they are so beat down by everything they now rely on medication to make it from one day to the next. I think the manipulators "world" is constantly changing and the other person cant seem to catch up no matter how hard they try. The manipulator doesnt care, doesnt listen, and is too self absorbed to care about anything or anyone that doesnt fit into their picture perfect world. |

I dont see this as a religious song, although it can be. But since lyrics are open to interpretation here is my thought. I see it as someone who is the victim of some sort of emotional abuse. It has made the person depressed and they are looking for a way to get out. They leave and maybe go to where their home used to be but you no longer recognize the place or the people, you are too different. They go see doctors for medicine but its not doing what they expected to. They continue on with the charade of what society deems acceptable. I think the songwriter is making a statement at the end saying that he has been through this and he is no longer willing to conform to what society deems normal. |

To me this song is about soldiers. Spit shine alone is a tactic used to shine your boots. I think its talking about how soldiers are made to think a certain way, and in becoming that; seeing death, seeing war they lose their innocence. I think they are trying to find a way to cope, spit shining like taught to try to make their halo shine again, to deal with the guilt that comes with taking a life. IDK, thats how I relate. |

Im sorry I just cant agree with the vast majority that this song is solely about religion. To me this song is about the cycle of abuse in a marriage. The abused is lost or losing themselves. Trying to get away from the abuse is the hardest part of any situation. The mental stability of the person who is abused is shattered and it takes a lot to believe in themselves again. The hurricane they are referring to in my opinion is pointing to the cycle/circle of that. I think the abused in this song is coming back to life again, fighting for themselves to survive. They are finally breaking the cycle. |

This song to me seems like a person stuck in a dead relationship. She dreams of someone loving her. She is so beaten down, hence "the creature in my bloodstream chews me up." She craves love so desperately and she is so depressed, it seems as if all she wants to do is to return to her dreams to "feel something" but in her waking hours she is numb, dead inside. She wants passion and to be cherished yet the only place she is able to get it is in her dreams. So sad but I can completely relate. |

I actually think this song, along with most others including death, is about his battle with mental illness. I can relate to it all because I battle a lot of what he deals with. I love that he found his release in some of the pain by pouring his heart and soul into the lyrics. I wish I was that talented. I think in order for him, me and many others that constantly battle this it is important to find a healthy release from the inner turmoil that we constantly struggle with. |

He is trying so hard to believe that there is something more, something better then what he had. He wants to start over, to not be alone.
