It's about how we view each other in our culture. "I wanna hang a name on you, I wanna know what's good for you" Everyone always tries to label and categorize someone based on their predetermined ideas of what 'that kind of person' is usually like. "You wanna hang a name on me, you wanna know what's good for me/ You don't know you don't really wanna know" We recognize everyone else trying to box us into these categories. So I'm pretty sure this song is about how we recognize the categories don't fit us ("don't label me!") but we don't realize when we're so quick to use those categories to define other people. |
