He didn't just write one song about her. He wrote Jimmy, Wings for Marie, 10,000 Days (Wings pt. 2), Judith, Vicarious, and to some extent, Pushit. All of these are about his childhood, and how it sucked without her. |

In my opinion, this song is about realizing that it's okay to slow down, and not rush through everything. They talk about how we've "been doin' it a while", as in we've been living lives of monotony. Those are the bad HABITs it talks about, the ever-repetitive bullshit that we live, and as a result, we should take a step back to admire what we have. There are many allusions to the Tortoise and the Hare here, reminding us that rushing isn't always the best answer. |
