i like the lyrics to this song...i think maybe its about an ex girlfriend...or someone he knew in the past who made it big. they have all these fancy things...nice clothes and diamonds and cars and money...but like he says in the song "and what about those shoes you're in today they'll do no good on the bridges you've burnt along the way..." i think that is telling this person that no matter how rich you are now and no matter how much you try to show it off...you severed a lot of relationships to get there...and was it really worth it? and the part "leave your footprints and we'll shame them with our words" i like..because its so true. if someone changes you sooooo much and then leaves you for something "better" no matter what it is, you will always hold a grudge against them... |

okay, i agree with both of the statments made before...about how this "girl" is such a fortunate fool... like someone said before about the great gatsby, i read that book and when daisy was talking about hoping her baby girl was born a fool it was because she didnt want her to have to deal with the world and everything that goes on in it, she just wanted her to be oblivious to everything that mattered and be content in her mock-perfect world that had no problems. i think its the same way in the song. this girl its about thinks she is so smart and attractive and has everything going for her...she has everything alllllll figured out...but what she doesnt know is everything that goes on around her. like how ppl "sing songs without her" which could be like neglecting to invite her places or talking about her behind her back. and she is to blinded by herself to see that. shes a "fortunate fool" because she has just removed herself from all the problems in life and is living a life that seems "too good to be true". and i think he says at the end "so maybe we shouldnt talk about it" because he feels bad for her...not knowing what goes on behind her back and how oblivious she is to everything...thats just my opinion...what do you guys think? |

He is the ONLY way i could EVEN get though anything! if you knew Him you would know that that was true! why you think there is no God is beyond my belief! how else can you explain things..i would really like to know... | |

i just want to comment that this is the best song! i was reading lyrics one day and i saw this song and the words just hit me...i just graduates from high school and im leaving for college in a matter of days...the guy i like is going to college hundreds of miles away in a different state so i think this song fits rather well... "but less of you is more than i can take and the moments that we've shared could last a lifetime and the faith i have in us will keep you near but several hundred miles placed in between us means several hundred words be sent by mail i hope this letter finds you well..." *SIGH* what a perfect description of what im feeling now! oh and ps...to all those who say that chirs left fsf b/c of the drinking...go look up the record co. that fsf is under...tooth and nail record which is a CHRISTIAN RECORD COMPANY!!!! i highly doubt thats the reason he left, but thanks anyways. |
