The Gaslight Anthem – Here Comes My Man Lyrics 11 years ago
Everyone seems to be having trouble figuring out the "here comes my man" part of the song. If you look at the lyrics, each verse kind of leads you into the chorus with different scenarios. For example, the first verse ends with:

"Let the good night decide who she wants me to find
And I'll never let you drop another tear in my eye..."

After that it seems to me that the 'good night' is singing to her 'listen honey here comes my man' as though, it is the man that the 'good night' has decided she wants her to find. The second verse ends with the line:

"I'll take it out to the streets for somebody else to admire..."

Going into the chorus, whether you think the song is from a female perspective, or both male and female, from a male point of view, here he is saying that he will go out to the streets for someone else to admire and they will sing to him 'listen honey here comes my man', or from a female point of view, SHE will go out to the streets for someone else to admire, and she can hopefully find someone that she can say 'listen honey here comes my man' about.

Lastly, [i know this is kinda drawn out, sorry], at the end of the song, just before the last string of choruses, he says:

"You found me singing, baby..."

Either when the relationship started, or after it ended and she moved on, he found her singing, either about him or someone else, 'listen honey here comes my man.'

Long story short, if you read the lyrics, it kind of explains the reference point for each 'here comes my man' chorus, and the reason, i feel, that that was chosen as the name of the song is because in the end, the point is that the person, or persons, want to be in a relationship that they feel appreciated in, and are proud of, themselves, and can happily express to others, or have their significant others express 'here comes my man'.

I definitely [because of the second verse mainly] feel like this might be from both perspectives...but not just male. There are definitely many female points of view in this song. Either way, as usual, they have written another brilliant song...
