The Drones – I See Seaweed Lyrics | 8 years ago |
@[Expojais:7237] There's definitely a neediness in there I agree and again I feel like I'm at that point in my life... I recently saw The Drones live, incredibly powerful band. They sadly didn't play anything off of I See Seaweed. |
Alice in Chains – Heaven Beside You Lyrics | 8 years ago |
@[sleepingeccentric:5284] You nailed it, a lot of the time this is where I'm at in life - trying to make my way out, I know deep down I'll get there. |
Radiohead – Up on the Ladder Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[Whiskyclone:4555] Uh huh I definitely agree, the resentment that comes with it is unbearable - so much so that I would never allow myself to be used again. I'd also like to point out that the main/opening guitar riff gives off a very manipulative and cold feeling which is brilliant, the drums also make the song seem quite cruel and calculated. |
Swans – Minus Something Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[FaaipDeOaid:3934] Hmm disagree, I like how it slowly builds/goes on. |

@[FaaipDeOaid:3933] Hmm disagree, I like how it slowly builds/goes on. |
Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[TheJackyl:3323] Mm I really do like this interpretation but there are also other great ones on here, I've personally experienced that "Rosetta Stoned feeling" several times. |
Opeth – Weakness Lyrics | 9 years ago |
This song is sadly very close to home now, oh well I still love it along with the rest of Damnation. |
Mastodon – Diamond in the Witch House Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[d0lphin:2701] Mmm definitely agree w/ your interpretation, great closer to the album. |
The Cure – Sirensong Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[MurderRapeLove:2300] Hmm I think it's a bit of both mike, great song! |
Opeth – Eternal Rains Will Come Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Hm I don't think it has anything to do with the flooding in the bible, it seems too simple. |
Converge – Wretched World Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[nedologist:1801] Damn, you really hit it on the head. I'm not saying that this is the only way of interpreting the song but this interpretation unfortunately makes the most sense to me; I hate being in my toxic loveless relationship. I should just cut contact because its not even comforting anymore. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Becoming Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[Harry:1398] Manback Maynard is great but he's no god, human like you and I. |
Opeth – Closure Lyrics | 9 years ago |
With this song I've always got the feeling that the: There's nothing painful in this There's no upheaval is sarcasm; I don't really like interpreting it that way though to be honest. |
Massive Attack – Mezzanine Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[beanbagchair:793] Ah I really like this interpretation, seems to hit home. |
Marilyn Manson – User Friendly Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[AllWeLove:784] May not have explained myself that well I'm fucking kind of buzzed. |
Marilyn Manson – User Friendly Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Pretty relevant to me... there was a girl I was seeing but she is going to prison and started to see almost everything as pointless after she tried to kill herself, I still see glimmers of who she used to be when we're together some times. Especially: Will you die when you're high You'd never die just for me I started getting ganja for her when things were good, now I mostly just see her when I drop some off. Shes said we can out but we never really do anymore, she cut her feelings off when she found out how long she was getting sentenced for and because she didn't want to get anymore attached as that would make things harder when she has to leave. I think she is afraid, she doesn't want to feel much of anything, so even though I do things for her shes never gonna do much for me in the state she is in at the moment. She dies when she floats and tokes to get away from it all, I realize the 'high' can be interpreted as an orgasm and that plays into it to. She'll never give me any pleasure but then when things were different I was always the one to have to make the moves. Eh, don't mind my rambling it just helps me to write things out. I don't want to go to my friends with my problems all of the time, sometimes it just feels best to type or write as a release. |
Marilyn Manson – Mechanical Animals Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[perfectXfit:761] I definitely see the song in that light... yeah it's too bad, they will never understand her or care for her the way I do; she should be letting the wrong ones go out of her life but she never does because she can't see things from my perspective. |
Opeth – Harvest Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Sometimes I think I understand why the protagonist thinks he/she is a martyr but then other times not so much... Analyzed this song in my last year of high school for my English class, had a lot of fun with it. |
Morrissey – The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[quietwar:570] That's fucking creepy. Ah I really like this song though would never sink to stalking, don't mind me just stoned and tipsy on a Tuesday afternoon ha. |
Storm Corrosion – Drag Ropes Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[Unbelievable21:409] Thanks really want to pick up an actual copy of this, have wanted to since it came out. Bet the art in the booklet is great. |
Burial – Ashtray Wasp Lyrics | 9 years ago |
^ Definitely is, I think there is an "I hate you" in there before it goes into the next section. Always loved the title of this song so much so that I use it as a user for a few places. |
Katatonia – Deliberation Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I like pretty much all of the interpretations posted here, I think how I see the song I take some of the lyrics out of context; thats just the way it works for me. See us sleep behind the glass Unaware of crime Will you wake us up before it is time Pure and safe behind the glass but still they can be found... or is it one person, the ego and the person? Duality? So when you let me in You let me justify my own reward You put your hands on me And I learn the words I didn't know before So I can see this as someone being let into another person's life, "There's no one in the airspace/Repeating cycle of love/no love" maybe some of the time it's unrequited love and its a kind of forever changing love/hate relationship. "You let me justify my own reward" their partner isn't always responsive so the other person feels they deserve something out of this and makes their moves even if this isn't what their partner wants or maybe for a time the person lets them have whatever they want, intimacy, power... companionship. "You put your hands on me/And I learn the words I didn't know before" I think this person is inexperienced or hasn't been with anyone in a long time so it's like they've forgotten what its like to be close with someone. It all feels new and fresh, this is how it has felt for me lately. Anyway I'm sure if I hadn't been going through a lot I would've interpreted this song differently, this is just how the lyrics speak to me - I'm not claiming I'm right or anything, its just my interpretation. Before this last relationship I hadn't been with anyone for a long long time. The Great Cold Distance sure seems different to me now. |
Katatonia – Hypnone Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[EternalTearsOfSorrow:240] I like both interpretations but this one hits closer to home. I think the last section could be put differently, how? At the moment I'm not too sure but I do think yours fits as well, maybe I'll leave another comment later. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, really; this is what I'm going through and its been two days since I've heard from her. I'm scared shes made another attempt, shes shut down again at least which is what it built up from last time. Never imagined it would be like this, I don't even really know how I got into this... its all blurred by since October. "Tomorrow is so long" ah, really like this line another long day of probably not hearing a word, dependence and worrying. I wish I hadn't sat down and listened to the lyrics, I can only hope that it doesn't end in pain. I try to be there for her even when she closes herself off I can tell most of the time that she needs someone. |
Opeth – Windowpane Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I love this interpretation. |
A Tribe Called Quest – Jazz (We've Got) Lyrics | 9 years ago |
No comments!?!? Fantastic song, "We got the jazz, we got the jazz." is so fucking infectious. |
Swans – Little Mouth Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I've always thought this song is a bit of a gem, it's a great closer to the album. That a cappella is something else... |
The Smiths – Nowhere Fast Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Brilliant comparison, I think that bridge sadly got knocked down a few years ago. I will have to see that movie again! I've only seen it the one time. |
The Smiths – Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I've dreamt recently that somebody loved me when I was alone - two or so weeks ago. Two times in one week, the dreams were mostly the same: I'm wearing one of my Smiths shirts, having a breather outside of the library and a woman sits down opposite me. Our eyes meet. "Do you like The Smiths?" I ask. "I'm obsessed with them, I love them of course." "Marry me?" I ask as a grin overtakes my face. "Sure, let's go." Her eyes smile as she replies. Then we left, got to know each other and the dream seems to go on forever but from there it goes blurry. I woke up alone in my bed, feeling utterly tired. I just couldn't believe that it wasn't real, even the second time. They were too vivid. & of course I've lived in this small city for fifteen years and haven't seen another soul with a Smiths shirt on. I know few people who like The Smiths, two or three. Ahh, where are you people? |
The Dillinger Escape Plan – Farewell, Mona Lisa Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This is closer to how I interpret the song. Also it greatly reminds me of this verse: "Do you feel what I feel? See what I see? Hear what I hear? There is a line you must draw Between your dream world and reality Do you live my life? Or share the breath I breathe?" & of course the chorus as well, the song is "The Philosopher" by Death. |
Susanne Sundfør – The Brothel Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Great interpretation! Such a beautiful song, I never get sick of it - same goes for just about all of The Brothel and TSV. The meaning can definitely be taken quite literally or it doesn't have to be, it depends really. "They whisper; the ones who are only living are the ones who are only dying", Yes, the girls are alive but barely. I don't think they really consider themselves to be living, after all if you have to sell your mind, body and soul over and over again what kind of existence is that? Maybe in the back of their minds they feel like they aren't dying because they believe they aren't really living. Or they aren't worthy of dying because they haven't "lived" yet or they once did but are not now. Ha, I thought I knew what I was going to say but now I'm not so sure, hmm 4:26 a.m. If you've never walked around on a derelict street in the darkness of the early morning by yourself listening to this, you should. Of course not too safe but I live in a small city and there is literally no one around in my area at that time of morning. It's something else, as fitting as listening to The Smiths or Burial. |
Opeth – Epilogue Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I've been thinking about that lately too, maybe he is stuck in a cycle. I'd like to think that he isn't to be honest. With the next song at the end of each song & the seasons it reminds me of The Wall, you know "Isn't this where we came in?" its spread over the last song & the very first. Makes you wonder if Pink is trapped in a cycle |
Opeth – Hessian Peel Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I actually believe that the woman in this song along with Burden, Porcelain Heart Hex Omega is most likely the same one from To Bid You Farewell. http://www.faceculture.tv/index.php?cnti_key=11758011 Mikael says here that they broke up 12 years ago so that would've been around '96 when Morningrise was released. |
