@[bluesrunsthegame:1626] I'm pretty sure it is the former actually.. |
Laura Marling – Sophia Lyrics | 9 years ago |
This song boggles me all the while it enchants me. I always get caught on the "I'm wounded by dust" lyric. The Bible says "All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again." (in the book of Ecclesiastes, but also in Genesis and probably other places). The song always brings me back to the notion that what hurts most, often, being humans is our impermanence. |

@[stowawaygirl:1232] I've actually noticed that before.. Very interesting. (the matching lyrics) |
Bright Eyes – We Are Nowhere and It's Now Lyrics | 9 years ago |
After hearing a bit of this song, stopped because the words stunned me, looking up the lyrics, reading the lyrics (and some of these comments), I think I just came to like Bright Eyes a WHOLE lot more (and I already loved them:) Blessings to all. |
Belle & Sebastian – The Boy Done Wrong Again Lyrics | 9 years ago |
This has pretty much become my theme song over the past two months. It's kept me company in the blueness of depression I've encountered. It's a sad song but it's beautiful. It's a piece of art. Also, (not that it matters:) "hang your head in shame and cry your life away" has echoed through my head today. It's almost like the song is saying to me "it's ok to be blue, to feel pointless, to acknowledge darkness and just cry instead of trying to shut it down/out." It is a SAD, sad song but I don't think that is necessarily a dark thing. |

@[tenserock:510] who are you talking to?? |
Radiohead – Black Star Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I think it's about a man trying to sympathize with his sick lover and her depression/mental illness. I think it kills her, which kills him, because even though it was hard on him to live with her, it's harder to not live with her. |
Blue October – A Quiet Mind Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I find myself humming this song all the time, sometimes singing some of the verses. It's oddly comforting. I feel a lot less alone knowing that I'm not the only one stuck in my head, but also someone has made a beautiful song out of something so ugly and so isolating. |
Paolo Nutini – Iron Sky Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Although it's pretty clear what he is saying, nothing can give you the ability, the tool to rise above it all, that society doesn't help on bit... I simply can't agree with his proposed solution. "You just got to hold on" and the statements that follow on uniting to become what the world needs is a nice thought but he neglects to recognize that there is a problem and that we are PART of that problem, at least if we don't find the root of it. Personally, I think what Nutini is saying through this song is pleasant but too idealistic to be critical of salvation. We NEED salvation. Maybe not religion, but we need to be saved from ourselves in order to help the world (ourselves and others alike). |
Sonata Arctica – Paid in Full Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Jesus. I think it's about replacing the love that belongs to God and giving it to a human instead, realizing that it was misplaced, and that giving it to a person, a lover, just eats away at you. I think it's about realizing that this is not only harmful and painful, but a crime (if you will), it means a debt is owed to God… and that Christ has paid debt in full. |
Daughter – Medicine Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I think it's about a guy and a girl. One of them is married and left his/her spouse to be with the other, and then the other person finds out, and realizes that there was more than just one lie the person who was married told the mistress (or guy). The song is telling the person to leave, to be the person he or she could be and was lying, pretending to be, that he/she has great potential as a person but that she/he doesn't want to be with him/her. |
Daughter – Medicine Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I think that is reading VERY far into it. |
Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I just really wanna know whose perspective the song is written from.. At first I thought it was King David, then God's.. and then three days ago I was listening to it and, again (for the millionth time) was trying to pick apart the pieces of this song (one of my favorites), and thought maybe it was King Davids' wife's "voice"... Perhaps it's just a song using biblical references to convey emotions/thoughts/a story.. then again maybe it's a song written from switching perspectives. |
Leonard Cohen – Suzanne Lyrics | 11 years ago |
awww!!! (it's one of my ALL time favorites). Amazing isn't it? true beauty, poetry. :) |
Fences – Hands Lyrics | 11 years ago |
WHOA... beautiful! sexy.. debaucherous? lol. Very interesting. I like the part about the stolen crown, and that when he doesn't feel like he's the focus of their relationship/whateveritis he's brought back to where he was in the beginning. |
The Dear Hunter – Saved Lyrics | 11 years ago |
STRANGELY confusing and sad. From after all this suffering I could lie here for good But with a mind on fire I try and stand my ground -as in, "what if we suffer here and we just die" (at least that's what I hear from it) Illuminate and I will follow you -"God, show up, appear and I'll believe and follow You" (again, my interpretation) (My decaying mind pretends None of this ever happened) We either learn to live a lie Or we're waiting here to die -decaying mind = the reality -none of this ever happened = this could all be a thought |
The Dear Hunter – Son Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Also "dust in the debris". In the Bible it says we come from dust (and to dust we'll return).. I think He's rejecting the truth of these notions. |
The Dear Hunter – Son Lyrics | 11 years ago |
leave this truth behind start anew.. This song is frustrating to interpret. As much as I would like not to believe it I think it's about this man killing his upbringing, maybe a Christian one (who's to say it was a good one.. but still somewhat sad to just throw it all away) and then start from scratch from the earth up. |
Portugal. The Man – Salt Lyrics | 11 years ago |
awww!!! |
Noah and the Whale – Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down Lyrics | 11 years ago |
SO true XD |
Noah and the Whale – Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down Lyrics | 11 years ago |
/my interpretation: WIthout God we cannot find love. And we'll all die someday, this is inevitable, but You have to have God to live.. We'll never be good or strong enough to earn or match up to Love (God's love), demons will always be at our doorstep. But There is hope and there is life brought to us by God. I think this song may just be my new favorite.... LOVE THIS SONG :) |
