Howie Day – Collide Lyrics 11 years ago
This song always makes me think of the movie "Crash" (the 2005 Best Picture winner not the 1996 David Cronenberg one) and not just because of the title. Lyrics like "Even the best fall down sometimes/Even the wrong words seem to rhyme/Out of the doubt that fills my mind" and "I'm quiet you know/You make a first impression" could easily apply to the characters and situations in the movie.

Die Krupps – Fatherland Lyrics 11 years ago
This is one song where the lyrics do not require much analysis. The song is about Nazism and the holocaust. Seeing as Die Krupps are a German band it's an obvious comment on the horrors that have been burned permanently into German history. It's a great song. I used to play it all the time on my HS radio show.

Asia – Heat Of The Moment Lyrics 12 years ago
In a way this song is about looking back. I interepret it as being about what happens when you get into your mid-late 20s early 30s and what worked for you between sixteen and twenty-five no longer works. As a friend of mine once put it (and was also stated in the movie Love And Basketball) when you're a kid/teen you have your dreams ("teenage ambitions") and it doesn't occur to you until later that things aren't gonna turn out that way. Wheb you're in your late teens early twenties you just wanna party yet after a certain point the novelty wears off and "the disco hot spots hold no charm for you". That part could also be interpreted as a general comment that by 1982 the party was over for a lot of people. Many people who had been in their twenties i the disco era were now at that point I referred to earlier and confronted with reality. The song is telling this story parallel with one about a past love that the singer's reflecting on. In a loose sense its commenting on how things can happen in the heat of the moment.

I never was a major fan of Asia. But I always liked Heat Of The Moment.

Tasmin Archer – Sleeping Satellite Lyrics 12 years ago
<<<.It's not intended as anti space travel, it's just the opposite and it bemoans the fact that at the time of the anniversary the initiative had not been progressed from the original achievement. Hope this helps. Love and peace, Tasmin...." .>>>

Good way of putting it. If one listens and goes for the surface interpretation, they would probably take away that the song is a comment on the tendency to go into space when there are problems on earth that need to be solved. Not quite true.

In some ways its possible to see the space program as a metaphor for America itself. Reached greatness yet still can go much further,
