Le Tigre – Deceptacon Lyrics 10 years ago
Woops I forgot to add that Fat Mike of No FX was in Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies who covered "Who Put the Bomp" and this song is a reference to that version of the song cause Fat Mike also wrote a song called "Kill Rock Stars" that criticizes Kathleen Hanna for things she said to him. This is a rebuttal.

NOFX – Kill Rock Stars Lyrics 10 years ago
I think some feminists do have a grudge against men. I'm not saying all do, or even a majority, just some. On the other hand there are men (and even women) who are threatened by the very idea of feminism and they will continually point at those feminists that are aggressively anti-male. Is it fair? No. But that's the way people choose to make their arguments. It's the same with racial and social class issues.

But anyway to address what Fat Mike wrote, I don't know Kathleen Hanna personally so I can't say what he is saying about her is true or not. But in the context of an anti-male feminist, I would agree.

In my personal experience I've only come across women like that while at a Bikini Kill (Hanna was in that band) show back in the early 90s. It was somewhat surreal and I could easily shrug it off and I never held it against anyone else based on that one person's attitude.

Probably... the lyrics are a reference to the 1961 Barry Mann song "Who Put the Bomp". Also, a few months after your comment a documentary about Le Tigre titled "Who Took the Bomp?" came out.

I agree with you on that. Though at the same time a lot of dance remixes of songs have most of the lyrics cut out. But yeah... leaving that in would have been good.

Alpha Blondy – Jerusalem Lyrics 11 years ago
He's obviously preaching for unity and peace between the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Islam and Christianity. He's singing in multiple languages to reach the widest audience possible and unite people of different nationalities and races as well.

I'm not a religious person but I find Blondy fascinating and support his message of peace and love that focuses on the positive aspects of faith.

Lords Of Acid – Marijuana In Your Brain Lyrics 11 years ago
I think it's definitely critical of the marijuana culture. If you've ever spent time in the festival or outdoor rave scene and aren't a hippie some of the stuff they talk about totally makes sense. I've met my share of neo-hippies who talk about peace, love and nature but tend to focus their energy on getting high, having sex and scene politics instead of creating anything. Having said that... it's just a small part of the overall hippie culture. Just like in any scene there are some lame people.

Rage Against the Machine – Bulls on Parade Lyrics 11 years ago
This is especially relevant now that the Republican Vice Presidential nominee is Paul Ryan who claims that Rage Against the Machine is his favorite band. While at the same time his budget plan includes slashing spending on other programs to make sure the military budget is not affected.
