Counting Crows – Raining In Baltimore Lyrics 9 years ago
Poetry right from the moment Adam opens his mouth.

"The circus is falling down on it's knees
The big top is crumbling down"

Wow, what a fucking lyric. The opening one, no less.

Radiohead – Climbing Up the Walls Lyrics 9 years ago
Thom Yorke used to work at a mental institution before he formed Radiohead. The lyrics of this song were inspired by some of the stories his patients told him.

The National – Don't Swallow the Cap Lyrics 9 years ago
Hey uh, the "let it be" and "nevermind" parts refer to the albums Let it Be by the Beatles and Nevermind by Nirvana. That's why he adds "play" before the former album, and isn't referring to the literal terms.

The Naked And Famous – Spank Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this song is about getting spanked.

Coldplay – Green Eyes Lyrics 10 years ago
The song is obviously about the time Chris Martin got blown by Natalie Imbruglia.

Coldplay – Sparks Lyrics 10 years ago
At first I thought it was "But you let a hole on through" instead "It's you I hold on to". And now that I know the correct lyric it kinda changes the meaning of the song around for me.

OK Go – Here It Goes Again Lyrics 10 years ago
Surfer Rosa's an album by the Pixies in case anyone's wondering.

On that note considering how similar OK Go sounds to the Pixies I wouldn't be surprised that they'd throw in that little nod to a possible influence of their's.

No Doubt – I Throw My Toys Around Lyrics 10 years ago
I heard somewhere that the song was written as a tribute to Angelica from Rugrats. Probably also why they featured it in the movie. :P

Band of Horses – Is There a Ghost Lyrics 10 years ago
This is my interpretation on the music video.

The video clearly shows a girl sneaking out into the night and stealing other people's pillows because she isn't content with her own. Her actions cause the people who were robbed of their pillows to start fighting with eachother over it.

The protagonist is getting tired of living the same old life every other day and wants to start anew(throwing away her old, worn-out pillows). She decides to have some "fun" with her life by doing actions that her friends and family would consider frowned upon(breaking into other people's houses and stealing their pillows). Her actions begin to corrupt the peace of the town and pit people against one another(people waking up to find their pillows gone and begin somewhat violent pillow fights over it). Not only that, but her antics seems to make things worse for herself(trying the different pillows and still not being satisfied). She eventually decides that what she is doing is wrong, and returns to her old life(choosing not to steal the pillow from the man at the end of the video).

That's just my interpretation.

Youth Lagoon – Ghost to Me Lyrics 10 years ago
Probably the best Youth Lagoon song. I think it's about not being able to get over the loss or death of a lover or friend("Follow me, I see your silhouette", "haunts the basement where I sleep alone", "every minute is a memory", etc.), but in the end, he just has to accept that they're never coming back("you don't exist, you're just a ghost to me").

Young the Giant – Cough Syrup Lyrics 10 years ago
Lead vocalist Sameer Gadhia explained that "Cough Syrup" was written at a time when the band was unsigned, had no money and "didn't really know what to do with ourselves." The group, he continued, "felt somewhat oppressed by the universal expectation of what to do in Orange County...in suburbia in general. I think we really yearned to break out of that and do something a little bit different." Gadhia said the song is "kind of a cry for help" to "break free, not necessarily from oppression, but the common symptoms of suburbia like boredom, normality and homogeneity."

This song was obviously written as a tribute to the late Hugh Neutron.

R.I.P. Hugh, that damn aggressive pizza.

"I've watched all my castles fall, they were made of dust after all"

I love that lyric.

Radiohead – House of Cards Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song has a similar meaning to the song "A Murder of One" by Counting Crows, about trying to save someone from an unsteady relationship.

Radiohead – The Tourist Lyrics 11 years ago
The song is obviously about Sonic the Hedgehog.

1000 f/s = speed of sound. Sonic runs at the speed of sound.

It's funny because when I first heard this song I instantly thought of Sonic.

Kings of Leon – Birthday Lyrics 11 years ago
I hate to jump on the bandwagon of simple conclusions, but to me, the lyrics are too obvious to not be about sex.

"It's in the curve of your pretty gown"
"You come on legs and your pantyhose"
"You look so precious with your bloody nose" (possibly referring to anime, but it's doubtful)
"I don't wanna know, just what I'm gonna do"
"I don't care where your going, I'm coming along with you"
"Just one of those nights that I had to share"
"She's in a daze, without a care"

There is no other way I could possibly interpret this song.

No Age – Here Should Be My Home Lyrics 11 years ago
At first I thought it was "so i'll get up; bug you around" instead of "so walk it off; walk you around". In my opinion, the former sort of adds to the pop-punk charm of this song.

Young the Giant – Cough Syrup Lyrics 11 years ago
You do realize that a song against creationism would completely contradict God Made Man, a song that contributes to creationism, and comes right after this song on Young the Giant's self-titled album, right?

Please do everyone a favor and never post on this site again.

Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun Lyrics 12 years ago
Actually, Soundgarden is against satanism. This is proven by a backmasked message in their song "665", which makes fun of satanism.

The Fray – Trust Me Lyrics 12 years ago
To me, this song is about how hard life is when your older. The song is told from the perspective of an adult, trying to explain adulthood to a child.
