Born Ruffians – This Sentence Will Ruin/Save Your Life Lyrics 12 years ago
This is the ultimate coming-of-age song for me. Luke's yelp sounds like a teenager trying to be more aggressive than he really is. The howl is a typical expression of sexual yearning, which fits in well with the subject of the song.

And I don't think he's being blatantly sarcastic. Of course the song is not meant to sound poignant, and the whole way Luke rushes his sentences does carry a bit of self-parody. But the cool thing to me is how relatable the lyrics are while poking fun at their own shallowness at the same time.

Also, I think it's cool that most of the other songs of the EP are related to teenage problems, like "I'm One of Those Girls" (with the "pressssure" built around sex) and "Hedonistic Me" (which is about growing up and living a simple life). I love it when albums aren't intentionally conceptual but they have a sort of unifying theme.

Born Ruffians – Blood, The Sun, & Water Lyrics 12 years ago
I feel like your analysis is just about right. "Flesh and nails, hammers too" is very clearly a pun on the word "nails", but besides that it could also be talking about human tools. That idea relates it to the "this fire to the next" line, which makes me thing about the beginnings of human life and the discovery of the world. So yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you said.

Also, I feel like the name Antoine might be referring to Antoine Doinel, the main character in Truffaut's classic coming-of-age film The 400 Blows. I think Lalonde puts Antoine as the protagonist in his song to make it clear that he's talking about growing up and figuring out what the world is about.
