Bob Dylan – Lord Protect My Child Lyrics 10 years ago
A gorgeous song. If I had to put a date on this song I'd guess early 80's due to Bob's voice, the drumbeat and that is when Dylan had kids that were in their formative years.

The Wallflowers – Somebody Else's Money Lyrics 11 years ago
I agree with the first comment about how this song is about our money-driven society. I don't like plugging the writer's personal life into interpretations, but this song might also have something to do with the fact that Dylan grew up very privileged and this may be his way of rejecting that. He is putting his privileged life in perspective and is exposing the ugly side of wealth.

The Wallflowers – Health And Happiness Lyrics 11 years ago
I've heard that this song is actually about the former Wallflowers guitarist, Michael Ward, who left the band shortly before this album was recorded.

The Wallflowers – Nearly Beloved Lyrics 12 years ago
As I was listening through Rebel Sweetheart, I never thought twice about this song until I really listened to the lyrics. The imagery that is brought up is astounding! A new picture is painted in almost every line. One of my favorites is, "In the evergreens drinking wine I saw the snow fall in black and white From the auburn sky". Dylan's writing is getting better with each album and I can't wait for the next one!!

Jakob Dylan – Holy Rollers for Love Lyrics 12 years ago
This song reminds me of the story of when Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. These two stanzas really reflect that:

Split this ocean set these sails
It's down to the seabed we dazzle and fail
Hereafter's bringing more funerals than fairs
And it's a book of blank maps
That we're using to get us there

Glory glory hallelujah be warned
God is still marching, still raising his sword
Board these windows and guard your stretch of floor
Something sinister's got you the minute you open the door

This stanza ^^ reminds me of the tenth plague where the Israelites were supposed to mark their doors with blood so God wouldn't kill their sons. Very well-done song, in my opinion.
