@[acrosstheuniverse:14844] ,
You nailed it. I just wrote the same thing, then stumbled across your post. "your friend, (pause=comma/from)the boy next door"

Led Zeppelin – That's the Way Lyrics 7 years ago
This is about a boy and a girl entering adolescence.
The boy, (vocal narration) is warned by his Mother that soon, his childhood friend would grow apart from him, and the relationship they had as children would no longer be.
He pines for this friendship, but as he realizes that his friend no longer 'sees' him, his Mother's words of warning were sadly true.
He equates the loss with asking "so I say to you that nothing really matters[?]..?
and all you do is stand and cry"
One of life's true first heartbreaks, the loss.

The Rolling Stones – Let It Loose Lyrics 8 years ago

Sorry you had to feel this for yourself before it made sense to you, but I think this is just that kind of song. Until you've been there, it doesn't make any sense at all.
Generically, I believe this song is about mismatched lovers- neither partner is happy with the way the relationship wound up ultimately beginning and ending in the bedroom, but sadly, the writer laments that they had both known from the start, but can't shake the blues over it anyway and they continue despite knowing that it will never go anywhere.
Very sad song.

Bruce Springsteen – She's the One Lyrics 11 years ago
"She's the One"
Title says it all.
This is a song about The one person you will meet in your life who meant everything and all things to you, and, in turn, you gave yourself over to them completely. You will only do that once. If it doesn't work out, you will never do it again with that much abandon; you will be more cautious.
Everybody has One, and you will never forget who that is.
Over time, it might appear to be hard to pick just one, but in your heart you always know because it's also the first.

David Bowie – Moonage Daydream Lyrics 12 years ago
"The church of man-love is such a holy place to be."
You have completely taken this out of it's original context.
This is how it is sung:
"The church of Man, Love, is such a Holy place to be"
In the UK, when adressing someone, it is common to use the term 'Love', as in, "How's it going, love?"
This is not about being gay or 'man love'.
Bonus- Fun Fact: Led Zeppelin chose to spell their name that way because they were afraid the Americans couldn't pronounce/understand the proper spelling of the word, Lead.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
