Adele – He Won't Go Lyrics 11 years ago
Its true, Adele has publicly stated that this song is about two "friends" she met, and that one was a heroin addict and all that....I don't buy it. Just like every other song on the album, this song is about her and her ex. Lets examine the clues. We know that:

1. Adele used to drink...alot. She has publicly stated that the relationship was sort of centered around drinking.
2. Adele cancelled her world tour to be with her ex.

These are facts that she has discussed herself and make sense when you think of them in context with the song. I think that perhaps her ex had the heroin problem, and she had a drinking problem. He probably went off to rehab, and she cancels her tour to be with him. Or maybe they both went to rehab. If thats not love what is? She was willing to take that risk. I find this particularly true when she says, "so petrified, I'm so scared to step into this light. What if I lose my heart and fail the climb? I won't forgive me if I give up trying" She's talking about the tour, stepping into the "light", pursuing her singing career.

Of course she's going to lie about it and say its about someone else, to protect her self and her ex. If you listen closely to her songs and her interviews, she lets out quite a lot. And her ex WAS Alex Sturrock, the photographer. He was with her on her tourbus, and accompanied her to the Grammy's. She even thanks him at the end of her speech. They were "born and raised in a summer haze" - I love that lyric from her other song. They got together in the summer - and I'm sure it was quite hazy with all the boozing going on.

Lana Del Rey – Video Games Lyrics 12 years ago
This song, along with many of LDRs songs, is fraught with double meanings. Its good writing, and it leaves the song open to interpretation and the listener can interpret the song to how it best applies to them. This is a very dark song. I think this songs tells a story about a woman who has been abused as a child and grows up to be promiscuous, participating in "video games" aka indecent movies.

The first two verses, she's describing her father. "Swinging in the backyard" while her father comes home, opens up a beer, calls her over to him, tells her to play a video game? I think "video game" can mean literally or figuratively in this line - or both. I think her father perhaps told her to play a video game to distract her from what he was doing. "I say you the bestest, lean in for a big kiss" - also something a child would say - "bestest".

"Take that body downtown" - her father telling her to make him some money.

"Holds me in his big arms, drunk and I am seeing stars" - this line can either refer to her, drunk, and in her lovers arms, or a memory of her in her fathers arms, her father being drunk, and she seeing stars, "seeing stars" usually happening when one is hit in the face.

The rest of the song is addressed to the man she currently loves. "I heard that you like the bad girls, honey, is that true?" She is a bad girl, and has been for a long time, as is usually the case with a history as described in the song.

When interpreting the song in these terms, its very sad. This is a recurring theme in some of her songs, like the song "Kinda Outta Luck", in which she describes her father is in the trunk of his brand new car, she wants him back, but "kinda outta luck".

A previous commenter stated that LDR said "Video games" still makes her cry - which would make sense if you interpret the song in these terms.
