Kate Nash – Mariella Lyrics 12 years ago
This reminds me a lot of how I was in the sixth grade.
I didn't want to wear makeup, or pretty clothes. I dressed in grays and blacks and browns, I didn't want to wear colorful dresses so I would stand out. I didn't go and make friends, on the bus I sat alone and read a book.

I think that the singer (Kate) sees this girl she knows. Kate is loud, she laughs at stupid things, her opinions always come right out of her mouth as she thinks them. Then, she meets Mariella, who is quiet (I don't think Mariella necessarily "glued" her lips together - I think it was rather a metaphor that she didn't talk). She throws out all the colors in her wardrobe because she doesn't need color to make her pretty. She wanted to be mysterious and different. Mariella doesn't need friends to make her happy, she's fine being by herself and living in her "own little world" and the singer is jealous and wants to be like Mariella. The singer wants to not care, wants to not feel the need to wear color or talk so much or annouce her opinion..but it's just how she is. So she's envious of the girl that is different.

It's definitely "Nor a camera and crew".
I agree, I think it's about being in a creative block, unable to get what you want from your brain. Definitely a frustrating feeling.

Chairlift – Bruises Lyrics 12 years ago
I'm honestly not sure where everyone gets their ideas that this song is about sex, in any way shape or form. Sometimes people look too deeply past the lyrics and try to pull sex from it. I think it's just a simply sweet song, nothing more. Maybe about someone who is trying their hardest to impress someone they love - "I tried to do headstands for you" - and failing: "Every time I fell". Whoever it is they love remains unimpressed and it hurts, symbolized by getting bruises and staining her jeans etc.
