The Black Eyed Peas – Where Is The Love? (Feat. Justin Timberlake) Lyrics 11 years ago
Dude...calm down. This song is by no means singling out white people and saying they are the cause for the hate in the world. It points out that, in general, humanity has many flaws. It's calling for people of all races, genders, religions, etc. to get rid of the hate and animosity they feel towards each other and to love each other as fellow human beings. The fact that you can go on this ridiculously long tantrum actually gives the song more credit because you are overflowing with the hatred the Black Eyed Peas are discouraging.

I am a middle class white male, so I (luckily) haven't had problems with being discriminated against. But what I do know is discrimination applies to more than blacks and Muslims; it also refers to women, homosexuals, the mentally challenged, the elderly, the "nerd" that people made fun of throughout high school...the list goes on and on. And the problems that these people face every single day are absolutely terrible, leading to many people hating the cruelty of our world. The Black Eyed Peas are calling for humanity to end the hatred that people feel towards those who are different than them, and to start loving them for what they are; an individual human being.

The fact that you can't see this is very, very sad. There are so many flaws in your post (and I only read bits and pieces of it rather than the entire thing), that unfortunately I can't respond to all of them. Some of the conclusions you jump to are...pretty ignorant to be honest.

So all I can ask is for you to please, please PLEASE just think deeply about one question:

Where is the love?

p.s. I am fully literate, was valedictorian of my high school class, and have a 4.0 GPA from college, yet I love this song. But, thank you for jumping to the conclusion that all people who like this song are "illiterate air-heads"...it made me think of the delicious candy air heads, which I think I'm going to go get right now :-)

3 Doors Down – Here Without You Lyrics 12 years ago
This has been one of my favorite songs for a long time. A few years ago (I was a senior in high school at the time) I had to put my dog to sleep after having her my whole life. I grew up with her and she was always there for me every single day, waiting to show me how much she loved me (I know this sounds stupid, but I love dogs haha). Anyway, in the car ride back from putting her to sleep, I heard this song...and although it's supposed to be about a significant other, the whole "Here Without You" part really hit home.

A couple months later, I met a girl who managed to make me feel like no other girl ever could. When we were first getting to know each other, she got a hold of my phone and saw my background (my dog) and the words "Here Without You". She thought it was about a past girlfriend that I couldn't get over, and it almost cost me a chance at being with her. But in the end, we connected over my dog, and we ended up dating for over a year (most of which was long distance) before she ended things. The ironic part of the story is that SHE became the ex-girlfriend that I couldn't get over for a while.

I know it's a pretty lame story, but I'm a pretty lame guy haha. Although it was really interesting when I heard this song on the radio just a few months after my dog passed away. I had not heard it on the radio since the day she died, but when I counted the days since she had passed...it was exactly "100 days since I saw her face". It was such a crazy coincidence (and I did NOT make it up).

But anyway, I love this song because it can represent your feelings about being away from any loved one. Whether you're torn apart by a long-distance relationship, break up, or death, "it gets hard but it won't take away my love". I think that can speak to a lot of people in a lot of situations, which is why this song is one of the best ever

"You took for granted all the times I never let you down".

In my opinion, this is one of the best lines ever. I know a lot of people, including myself, have felt that what they do/have done is taken for granted by those they hold close to them, and it hurts. When you give somebody - whether it's a friend, family member, boyfriend/girlfriend, spouse, or anybody else in your life - everything you have, it can be emotionally draining to never be thanked or recognized for your sacrifices. When someone you love stops making you feel special, it's tough to continue being the all-powerful person you want to be. Suddenly the same person who has made you feel like Superman has become your Kryptonite, because no matter what you do for them, they just won't give anything in return.

I guess what I take from this song is never stop letting the people you care about know how much you love them, even if they seem happy and "alive and well". Because if you do, then maybe your world will float to the dark side of the moon

Hoobastank – Running Away Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is absolutely incredible. I recently went through a breakup that just killed me, and this song was constantly playing through my head. I had dated a girl who told me that I was the only one for her because she could only be who she truly wanted to be when she was with me. I always told her the truth and I expected her to do the same. We dated for over a year and then I found out she had been lying to me for months...but I forgave her. Because I couldn't let things go with one mistake; everyone deserves a second chance.

Anyway, about a month later she broke up with me and refused to give me a reason why. She just ran away and refused to have anything to do with me. It turns out she left me to become a completely different person than she had been...and not in a good way. Yet, despite all I had done for her, she couldn't tell me the truth, even though she knew it tore me apart to not have a reason for the breakup. This song summed up my feelings perfectly because it so accurately describes the feeling of pain, betrayal, and the desire of truth. That pain kinda never goes away...

But hey, that's life for you. The strongest person isn't the person who never gets hurt; it's the person who can come back from unbearable pain and be better than they were before it.

Ron Pope – A Drop In The Ocean Lyrics 12 years ago
I couldn't put this any better myself, icesk8ngurl...I too recently figured out what exactly this song is about, but I'd much rather have been able to go on without fully understanding it. Sometimes life just gets in the way and there's nothing you can do about it, even if you'd give up everything to keep your relationship going. No matter what you tell yourself, you can't talk yourself in or out of love, but sometimes life forces you to make a decision. But it's the moments you shared, even if it wasn't for as long as you wanted, that make it all worth it. Nothing can take away your memories.

Anyway, this song is incredible. Perfectly captures the emotion I and many others have felt.
