Animal Collective – Kids on Holiday Lyrics | 11 years ago |
i feel like they say "our tour in hibernation", rather than "auteur in hibernation". |
The Decemberists – Cocoon Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I don't know, that sounds too political for the Decemberists. "The hole in the sky" may very well be referring to the hole in the ozone layer. It sounds to me like someone coming out of a coma that they'd been in while a lot of terrible events happened (the tainted election, the "low dirty war", the eruption of Vesuvius, etc.). Now they have to deal with the consequences of those events, their "hour to make due", even though they didn't see or take part in any of the events. I don't know if that's any more right, but I feel like the Decemberists wouldn't write a song about something so controversial, especially with the stance you claim this song is portraying (one that believes we should all stand up to our government and do what is right). Not on this album, anyways. |
The Decemberists – Angel, Won't You Call Me? Lyrics | 11 years ago |
It's on the 5 Songs EP, the Decemberists' first release. You could probably find it on a lot of online radio sites, but idk if it's on iTunes or any other music store. |
The Decemberists – My Mother Was a Chinese Trapeze Artist Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I don't think the song is anything serious or especially meaningful. I just think it's a great story :) . He did take a creative writing course in college, so you can see where a lot of the Decemberists' lyrics come from. |
Fountains of Wayne – Stacy's Mom Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I hate this song so much. It really contradicts the whole feel of this album. I have to skip it when I get to it, it's just so bad. That said, I think it's about early adolescent fantasies, when we're just beginning to explore the adult world and its facets. Pretty straightforward, really. |
Fountains of Wayne – Fire Island Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I feel like the narrator was pressured into having this party by his classmates, knowing his parents were away, hence the disinterest in the narrator's voice. At the same time, it seems like the narrator longs for the safety of his parent's rules and restrictions, despite having this freedom. Just my take. One of my favorite songs off of this album along with Hackensack, Valley Winter Song, Mexican Wine, and Hey Julie. |
The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think that you're placing too much importance on lyrics. It's nice to see a deeper meaning in songs sometimes, but some songs just don't have a really deep meaning. |
Beck – Orphans Lyrics | 11 years ago |
"If I wake up and see my maker coming With all of his crimson and his iron desire We'll drag the streets with the baggage of longing To be loved or destroyed From a void to a grain of sand in your hand" just my favorite part of the song, right here |
The White Stripes – We're Going to Be Friends Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Man... I hope you two were being sarcastic. Well, I know the guy who replied to this comment was being sarcastic. But really, I think you over-analyzed it. |

36! is 1 * 2 * 3 * 4 * 5 ... * 36. |
RJD2 – Beyond the Beyond Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Was this in a commercial? I swear i've heard this several times before. I love this song, and a lot of RJD2's other songs, really catchy |
Radiohead – Optimistic Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I really don't like this song. It seems kinda naive to me. I almost want to skip this song when I listen to Kid A, but I feel like I'd be betraying Radiohead somehow if I did. |
Radiohead – Planet Telex Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think that a lot of people are right about this being a love song. Also, I don't think he means to say that you can literally crush the object of the song. I think he's saying that no matter how long you sit there thinking about the person (or "crushing" on them), they won't fall in love with you unless you do something real. Basically, what they're saying is move on, this isn't worth it. |
Radiohead – How to Disappear Completely Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Escapism is a major theme in this song. Look at lyrics such as "I'm not here, this isn't happening" and "That there, that's not me." They both talk about escaping problems, pretending you're not there or never was there. |
