Angels and Airwaves – Breathe Lyrics 12 years ago
You really can't say anything bad about AVA as far as their music & lyrics go... (and have it be true)

My old man hates blink-182, +44, and Boxcar Racer... But I play him AVA and the only bad thing he has to say about it is Tom's voice. (Which I love personally, but to each their own)

AVA Forever!

I can see how you can relate to an AVA song lol

Most of their songs deal with the premise of love in a time of war. You'd really connect to Young London lol

Sum 41 – Fat Lip Lyrics 12 years ago
People who are trashing Sum-41 because they aren't "punk"

Here's what punk is, and I'll let you people decide.

Punk IS: a band who doesn't care about anything, does their own thing, and doesn't give two shits about the consequences.

Punk IS NOT: a band who whines about how the government is picking on them, and tries to sway people to believe their political views. Or a band that takes their band seriously. (Because true punks don't care either way)

You people decide what is or is not punk after that description.

Fountains of Wayne – Stacy's Mom Lyrics 12 years ago
So, if they played All the Small Things by blink-182, Don't Stop Believing by Journey, and Limelight by Rush.... Those songs would suck? You're logic doesn't make much sense dude.

Dead Milkmen are the shit.

This is real punk! Not caring what they're singing about, just having fun.

Blink-182 – Fuck a Dog Lyrics 12 years ago
Let me guess, you're a whiny little PETA prick. (which would explain why you like Green Day)

A: This song is a joke that was meant to offend people like you.

B: I would rather hear a funny song about fucking a dog, then a whole whiny album about a dead cat.

C: Animals aren't people, so this is much better then dominated love slave.

D: He's not really fucking a dog

E: blink has a sense of humor

F: Green day is a whiny band who thinks that because they're famous, they know everything about politics. (They don't)

Blink-182 – Fuck a Dog Lyrics 12 years ago
They were immature punks when they made this up, and it IS a joke. Grow a sense of humor.

BTW, rape is not cool to joke about. Say rape is fun to someone who has been raped, and I'm sure they'd tear you a new asshole. I know a girl who was almost raped, and she was traumatized just by that close call. (BTW, roleplaying with your boyfriend doesn't count as rape)

Blink-182 – Fuck a Dog Lyrics 12 years ago
I love how these are the only songs people trash blink for.

TO ALL OF YOU PEOPLE WHO TRASH BLINK DUE TO THESE SONGS...

blink is not a "Garbage band" They wrote these songs for three reasons. One, it's original, and hasn't been done before. Two, because they thought it would be funny. And Three, because they could.

Now... If blink took themselves seriously, I wouldn't like them as much. HOWEVER, they don't take themselves seriously. (Or at least didn't) Back when they wrote this song, they were just three immature guys who liked having fun, making people laugh, and just screwing around.

If you don't like this stuff, listen to Neighborhoods, and you'll change your opinion about blink.

BOTTOM LINE: Do NOT judge a band by songs that they wrote just for the hell of it. If every band wrote songs as a joke, then blink would be a lot less unique, and you'd find more songs similar to this floating around by bands you know and love.

Blink-182 – Dammit Lyrics 12 years ago
Ok... I'm kind of sick of this, so I'm going to set the record straight.

JUST BECAUSE A BAND CHANGES ITS SOUND, DOESN'T MAKE THEM SELLOUTS. JUST BECAUSE A BAND MAKES MONEY, IT DOESN'T MAKE THEM SELLOUTS. IF A BAND IS FAMOUS, THEY ARE NOT SELLOUTS.

All of you who are calling blink sellouts because they aren't the immature punks they were in '94, need to grow up. While I'm a die hard blink fan, I will admit they sold out the second they announced Neighborhoods.

Bands change their sound all the time, but that doesn't make them sellouts, it just means they want to try new things.

I think blink just did what Rush does every few years, and changed their sound because they liked it, and wanted to try something new. While they stayed close to their basic genre, the sound of their music got more a 00's alternative feel to it. Which is ok, because they like it.

Look at AVA. Tom took the sound that blink had been acquiring over the years, and went all out with it until he got a completely different genre. Did he sell out with AVA? No.

Also... If making money makes a band a sellout, then every band in existance, that is played on the radio, are all sellouts.

Back in the good old days, blink just liked playing their music. All the ads, apparel, posters etc. was all from the label (Who only care about music)

Also, if a band replaces someone, that doesn't make them sellouts. If Scott was an ass with a drinking problem, should Tom and Mark have to suffer for it? If someone wants to leave the band, but everyone else wants to keep playing... Should the rest of the band suffer by continuing on with one less member? Or just find someone to replace them?

Again with AVA... When Ryan left, Matt took his place. When Atom Willard left, Tom, David, and Matt got someone new. While I'm not sure what happened with Ryan, I know Atom left on good terms, and even helped them finish L)VE.

What makes blink sellouts, is them getting back together when they don't like each other. (Which I'm not sure about anymore, because they've given evidence that they're back on good terms in their side projects)

Ok, now that I have explained this, I shall end my rant.

Angels and Airwaves – Valkyrie Missile Lyrics 12 years ago
Wow, first comment in two years. lol

This is my favorite AVA album, mainly cuz it's inspired me so much.

As for the meaning, I think it's about a guy who get's drafted in a time of war, and he's spending his last few days with his lover.

I love this album because if you listen from start to finish, you hear a whole story about the two lovers over the course of the war, and how they are changed, but their feelings for each other never dwindle.

BTW Tom, if you're reading this, I'm writing a book inspired by AVA. I hope you approve. lol Thanks for all you do!

Angels and Airwaves – The Adventure Lyrics 12 years ago
You can't really interperate a single song on the first two albums. Sure, there's basic messages each one sends, but it's like trying to get the meaning of a book by reading one chapter.

The whole album tells a story of two lovers during a war. Each song in the album contribute a small chapter to that story. You have to have that context to truly interperate what Tom was going for. (Sure each song has a secondary message he's sending, because Tom's mastered abstract writing)

This song is a lot deeper then sending a message to Mark and Travis.

Angels and Airwaves – Anxiety Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is saying that everyone feels anxiety, and that anxiety is a serious and dangerous thing if we let it control us.

Tom is also saying that socially anxious people aren't alone, and that even the 'social butterflies' feel anxiety, and that the difference between the two is that one lets anxiety control them, and one doesn't.

I think "Such a strange celebration" is stating the irony of when the end of the world comes, people will be happy, instead of fearful and sad.

Angels and Airwaves – Surrender Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this is Tom saying that everyone has problems that others may not be aware of, and that if everyone helped lift each other up, the world would be a better place, and people would be happy even if there were "bombs landing at their feet"

Blink-182 – Ghost on the Dance Floor Lyrics 12 years ago
This is my favorite song on the Neighborhoods album.

This song is about songs that you share with people who have died, and that whenever you hear those songs, you can see their faces, and it's like they're alive and that they're right next to you.

Blink-182 – This Is Home Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song is more about music itself, and it's ability to inspire people. People with authority always try to control music, and I think Tom is saying that music is the one form of art that you can't control, that people will always defend music, and come up with their own meanings.

The chorus is asking if you'd be willing to give up your favorite music, and that people feel most at home while they're listening to their music.
