Breaking Benjamin – No Games Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I think when he says " I've felatted myself", he's either saying that he's bent so far to her "will" that he could metaphorically preform a fellatio on himself. But I also feel it could also mean that he's feels he's fucked himself (remember oral sex is still considered a type of sex) in the situation he's found himself in, in his relationship. But yeah..that's just my opinion on that subject. |
Placebo – Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush cover) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Lol I have no idea what OC is..I heard this song as the end credits for Black Water. Pretty good movie, it's the only place I heard this song. I love this song..it's so full of emotion. To me, it's basically about trading places with someone after you've broken up with them, and they're moving on faster than you. "It doesn't hurt me. You wanna feel how it feels? You wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me? You wanna hear about the deal I'm making?" He's lying, pretending the break up didn't hurt him, and she's wondering how he seems to be holding up so well. "And if I only could, Make a deal with God, And get him to swap our places, Be running up that road, Be running up that hill, Be running up that building. If I only could, oh..." He sees it as she's perfectly fine after the break up, she just mozies along. But be can't move on..it's hurting him, and he wishes he could trade places with her. "You don't want to hurt me, But see how deep the bullet lies. Unaware that I'm tearing you asunder. There is thunder in our hearts, baby. So much hate for the ones we love? Tell me, we both matter, don't we?" He says she says she doesn't want to hurt him, and he's pretty much saying she's lying because she's already hurt him. He wants to know he still matters to her, she seems to be moving on fine without him. You, be running up that hill You and me, be running up that hill You and me won't be unhappy. He wants to be "running up that hill", getting over it- like she is. He says they'll both be happy once they get over each other. " 'C'mon, baby, c'mon, c'mon, darling, Let me steal this moment from you now. C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling, Let's exchange the experience, oh...' " He wants to feel the way she does. How easily she's getting over him. He wants to feel the same way, have it be that easy for him. So he wants to exchange the experience, he's tired of it hurting him, and he's ready to get over her- but he can't for some reason. |
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's – Skeleton Key Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This is such a great song..I love the beat, lyrics and music of it. This is my interpretation: "I did a sick, sick thing to my love My lack of loyalty, it swallowed her up" He was in a relationship with a girl, and cheated on her, and now she's sad and it's consuming her. "And she cooked me food She squirmed and turned Like a skeleton key" She did everything for him, but in a way he's saying she's just a girl, they'll all do that, she's not any different. The skeleton key term refers to her being a "female", she can open any door- as in get into any guy's head. Like a girl that toys with a guy's emotions. "She left her man and attended to me" She left her last boyfriend/husband to be with him. He says she's being a slut by jumping from another guy to him. "And don't call me that Don't claim you love me Cause you know that ain't true" She may have called him "baby", "sweetie", "darling" etc He tells himself that she doesn't love him, maybe he feels no one could ever love him. Perhaps he thinks all girls are the same, they only want to use him. "My dire affliction I'll attribute to you" He blames her for him feeling guilty. He hurt her, and she ACTUALLY loved him. So he blamed her for loving him and getting so close to him. Saying it's her fault she got hurt. "And you're finally free To twist and turn Like a skeleton key" He broke up with her and now he says she's free to be kinda well..like a slut maybe? He thinks all girls "open your door" and hurt you and then move on to the next guy. "You've gotta let me know You've gotta let me know" He's either telling her to prove to him, that she actually loves him; he wants to know if he actually messed up something that was probably the best thing he ever had. Or, he's wants her to lie and tell him she never really loved him and that he wasn't in the wrong for hurting her. The guilt of what he's done is eating him alive. "I did a horrible thing to that girl I bred my misery and drowned it in her" The horrible thing he's referring to is that he used her. He caused his own problems, then ran to her looking for comfy or sympathy. Drowning his misery in her. "And she got me high And I hardly noticed there were tears in her eyes" She got him high as in, she made him feel better. Maybe smothered him with affection trying to take his mind off his problems. The tears referring to how she ACTUALLY cried tears for him in his misery, she empathized with him, but he never really paid any attention to that. "And I miss you less and less everyday This stream of whisky's helped to wash you away" He misses her, even though he tells himself she was only using him. So he's drinking to numb the pain he says she caused him, and by drinking it helps him to forget her. "And it's clear to see You're nothing special You're a skeleton key" He's trying to turn all his pain on her, because she's moved on and found someone who wouldn't hurt her the way he did. Like he's sitting back feeling sorry for what he did, then he sees her with someone else, and just basically says she's a slut for moving on. He's trying to reassure himself that she was nothing special, she was just a girl, and they all use you and move on to the next boy toy. "You've gotta let me know You've gotta let me know You've gotta let me know" He can't get her out of his head, the guilt of hurting her, someone who actually cared about him, is really beating him up. He's almost begging her to tell him how she really felt about him; hoping that he wasn't wrong for what he did to her, that she didn't really love him. ^ ^ This is only how I perceive the song myself. (Sorry for any spelling errors) |
Hollywood Undead – Hear Me Now Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think this song is about someone looking for god but there is no sign of him. He's been talking to him, praying asking for guidance but God never replies. He talks about all the things that make him not believe in god. Why would god let such horrible things happen to his people? At the beginning he mentions: "I keep searching for something that I never seem to find. But maybe I won’t, because I left it all behind." This meaning he's looking for faith but because of hardships in his life he's lost his faith and he feels that because he's lost hope he'll never be able to get it back. "Heaven will open up if I live on my knees. A man of many words, but a man of few deeds. Walking these streets, so absent of hope." This literally says "Why should I spend all my time praying to you if you're not helping?" A man of many words but few deeds refers to God saying all he says in the bible but doesn't do anything he says. So the guy is wondering around lost and out of hope. "There’s no light, there’s no sound. Hard to breathe, when you’re underground. Can you hear me now? Hear me now" Obvious, but he's talking about when you're dead and being buried and he wants to know where he will go. And he's screaming to god to prove he exists so he can have faith again. "Look into my eyes and I see What do I see? Nothing at all Take another look around me What do I see? Nothing at all" This is him saying he has no faith anymore, he just can't find god or any faith in him. He can't see god, can't find him anywhere, so how can he be real? This is just my interpretation. I love this song, because it describes me so well. I don't believe in God, but I once asked and begged for him to show me some kind of sign. I got silence. Amazing song! Love it so much~ |
Adelitas Way – The Collapse Lyrics | 12 years ago |
to me, this song is about a guy and a girl in a S&M kind of relationship. She knows her place, he controls everything she does and he says lay down, she better or he's "lay" her down himself. This song seems more "sexual" to me: "you feel the pressure as I'm pulling you in, you're crumbling under the the weight of the game" Plus, what else does someone do to you when they "tell" you to lay down? But I'm sure it can go either way because "laying down" can be a sign of submission and he could just be telling her to give up, to know her place. But anyway, tis an interesting song. |
Shinedown – I Dare You Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This is a great song and in my opinion, he's trying to prove himself his girlfriend or friend. Someone who desperately needs him to prove himself to them. "One says yes, one says no Decide - which voice in your head you can keep alive" I think he's telling her that she has to choose between what her brain says and her heart says about him. Like if her heart says "Yes I believe him" and her brain is pulling together odd pieces of a story saying "No, with all this evidence he can't be loyal." But she has to pick one of the voices to believe. "I dare you to tell me to walk through fire Wear my soul and call me a liar" He's daring her to tell him to walk through fire to prove his loyalty. Wearing his soul meaning he's showing her everything, telling her everything about himself so she'll believe him. "Hello, are you still chasing The memories in shadows Some stay young, some grow old Come alive, there are thoughts unclear You can never hide" He's saying that she has undecided feelings about something. He can tell she's worries or stressed out. Maybe thinks he's not the one because of something he said. "Even in madness, I know you still believe Paint me on canvas so I become What you could never be" He's saying in madness as in her being angry, mentally "unwell" or in a nervous breakdown. He knows she still believes in him, that he'd do anything for her. Now he's desperately trying to persuade her by saying that all she has to do is tell him what to do and he'll do it. He'll become everything she ever wanted. ^ ^; Well, this is only my opinion. |
Animal Collective – Fireworks Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Now it's day, I've been trying to get that taste off my tongue I was dreaming of just you, now our cereal, it is warm Attractive day in the rubble of the night from before Now I can't walk in a vacuum, I feel ugly, feel my pores It's the trees of this day that I do battle with for the light Then I start to feel tragic, people greet me, I'm polite "What's the day?" "What are you doing?" "How's your mood?" "How's that song?" Man it passes right by me, it's behind me, now it's gone And I can't lift you up cause my mind is tired It's family beaches that I desire A sacred night, where we'll watch the fireworks The frightened babies poo They've got two flashing eyes and they're colored why They make me feel that I'm only all I see sometimes. I've been eating with a good friend who said "A Genii made me out of the earth's skin" But in spite of her she is my birth kin, she spits me out in her surely blood rivers All the people life lurking in dominions of a hot Turk dish If elephants are reaching for our purses, then meet me after the world with the shivers. "What's the day?" "What you doing?" "How's your food?" "How's that song?" Man it passes right by me, it's behind me, now it's gone And I can't lift you up cause my mind is tired, it's family beaches that I desire That sacred night where we watched the fireworks They frightened the babies and you know they've got two flashing eyes And if they are color blind, they make me feel, that you're only what I see sometimes. And I can't lift you up cause my mind is tired, it's family beaches that I desire That sacred night where we watched the fireworks They frightened the babies and you know they've got two flashing eyes And if they are color blind, they make me feel, that I'm only what I see sometimes. |
