Nana Grizol – Tambourine-N-Thyme Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song is about falling in love with your friend and wrestling with that- trying to express yourself properly. It's about wanting that person in any way you can have them. It isn't about having sex with them, it's about having them. It doesn't matter if it happens romantically or not. |
Electric Six – Watching Evil Empires Fall Apart Lyrics | 10 years ago |
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU. I've been getting mad at so many people. http://classic.net.bible.org/bible.php?book=1Ch&chapter=21&mode=text |
Focus – Hocus Pocus Lyrics | 10 years ago |
"Grail" can be arranged into 26 words. (A few more, if that odd Scrabble Dictionary is to be trusted) While I agree that 5! = 120, I would go ahead and eliminate things like 'rlg' as words. |
The Rural Alberta Advantage – Sleep All Day Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I feel like it's about a relationship, but one of them is traveling and that is causing the issues. Several lines seem to hint at them being in different timezones. |
Bronze Radio Return – Rough Town Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song is about Hartford, CT. The rest is pretty self explanatory. |
River City Extension – Bone Marrow Twist and Shout Lyrics | 11 years ago |
This song is often played as the last song in a set, with the band descending into the crowd. They promised that they would never record it for an album. |
The Front Bottoms – Skeleton Lyrics | 11 years ago |
This song is about a girl at a party. He's way into her, but she's off with some other guy. When it switches to the chorus, he is singing TO the drugs. "And I got so stoned I fell asleep in the front seat I never sleep in the front seat, I'm too tall But I got so stoned I fell asleep in the front seat, I never sleep in the front seat, I'm too tall But I got so stoned Come on baby calm me down, you're the only one who knows how Reunited and it feels so good, so much better than I thought it would 'Cause I feel fucked, but in a good way. I start to cough, taste the butane" The drugs are what is calming him down. The anxiety is over this girl. And he goes overboard |
The National – Murder Me Rachael Lyrics | 11 years ago |
There are definitely 4 characters, but I think that everyone else is wrong about who is getting murdered. Narrator kills the girl he loved. I don't think she's an Ex, just someone he is in love with. Love her to ribbons get's repeated, especially at the end. I think he literally shreds her to ribbons. |
Nanuchka – Red Ripped Shirt Lyrics | 12 years ago |
If you ask the shadows what they think about the sun, they wouldn't be able to live without it And if you ask me what I think about your smile, I'd say I wouldn't be able to live without it She was lying in bed he wrote a story all over her body And the words faded into her skin Came out of her mouth as a prayer for better days and better shows and better characters to wear Where was I? I was just sitting drunk in the park Tucked in my long brown leather coat Trying to find a good explanation for my red ripped shirt I heard my heels on the sidewalk, My feet making their way home to you And every step burned and every though hurt Your eyes like swords in my heart like blades And my throat... But lover, guess what? If you ask the shadows what they think about the sun, they wouldn't be able to live without it And if you ask me what I think about your smile, I'd say I wouldn't be able to live without it And the people of the early morning hours, They could see inside me They'd been around, they know my kind They know that underneath My coat and my dead pale looking skin I was hiding something They walked away as I passed through them like a ghost There are no shows in the morning To accompany a lonely girl in her walk Only a virgin light and cool thin air After the nightmare If you ask the shadows what they think about the sun, they wouldn't be able to live without it And if you ask me what I think about your smile, I'd say I wouldn't be able to live without it And I don't get how these tears are supposed to be salty, Tasted so sweet in her mouth And your tongue still teasing and deciving me And I... Well I like it so much |

River City Extension – Today, I Feel Like I'm Evolving Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Joe posted this in a blog once, "...It is about a girl I went on a few dates with named Jillian. She was never interested in anything serious transpiring between us. That upset me, and I ended up writing that song. It all kind of came out at once. There are a couple different thoughts about a few people in there, but that’s the gist of the song." |
River City Extension – Friends and Family Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Joe occasionally talks about this song before he plays it. If I recall correctly, this song is a promise to his future wife (who he has yet to meet). Basically, he is admitting to being headstrong and stubborn, but he knows that he wouldn't be anything without those he loves. This song is a gift to his future wife, so if he is getting carried away, she can play him this song to remind him to be reasonable. The song is beautiful and powerful, and the story is reminiscent of Solomon's Ring. On the surface, the song is about manning a sea vessel alone. The struggle is too much, and he is apologetic for those he drove away. It is an obvious metaphor for his life, and when he finally docks in the last verse is when he met/will meet his future wife |
