Florence + the Machine – Leave My Body Lyrics 12 years ago
Wow, i interpreted this song very differently. In my opinion, the singer is comparing the xperience of being in love to being high, and in the vulnerable state of taking drugs. For example, she sings how all she cares about is that "one bright moment" which could mean she only cares about how love is a candle in the wind and when it is blown out you must be gratefull for what you had instead of trying hopelessly to re-light it. The wick has burned out.

You got it, she is certainly one heck of a needle in an odious and frustrating hay stack of useless pop-culture.

Feist – My Moon My Man Lyrics 12 years ago
Personally, i feel that the moon in this song, is both describing this man, and is a metaphor for how he is only revealing part of himself to her (much like the moon which faces away from the Earth). Also, i think that she feels frustrated because however hard she tries she will never be able to see what she really wants to see. This could also mean that he is shedding light on other things as opposed to devoting himself fully to her (i.e he has been cheating)

This also ties in with how her heart is on her sleeve, meaning that she is forever waiting and perhaps even pleading for him to open up to her, whilst he simply tells her what he thinks she wants to hear. This thesis obviously relates to the correct lyrics that are later on from the other lyrics.

I love this song because i can relate to it completely. Well-done Feist!

Feist – The Water Lyrics 12 years ago
To me, this song is not only about a relationship that has gone terribly wrong and plummeted to the ground. It is also about the faults that both people bring to a relationship and how what is said and done after the relationship ends, can be as painful as the breakup itself. For instance, in the first stanza, Feist sings about how "the telegraph cables hum" meaning that this person continues to contact her without any hope of salvaging the relationship. This means that the conversations that she now has with him are pointless. Also, she sings that "few can decipher who the message is from" meaning that she has no idea who this man is anymore, as he is acting so differently compared to the man he was during the relationship. Finally, in my opinion, the last line of the first stanza is extremely effective as it is very ambiguous. Firstly, it could mean that although the relationship between her and this person has ended, he is still contacting her as a result of the pity that he feels for her. I absolutely love this song. It is refreshing to hear such a pure and beautiful voice.
