This song is about being in love with someone who has a drug problem. I wanna hold the hand inside you-- the person who used to be there. Not what you've become. I look to you and I see nothing. It's about how a person you dearly loved has become ruined. Faded into something else. This song never made any sense to me. I was married to an incredible woman who eventually fell victim to abuse of prescription drugs and methamphetamines. She wasn't the person I married anymore. I finally left her after 16 years, then heard this song gain and it made perfect sense. |

| I was married to a wonderful woman for 16 years. For the last 5 of those she was addicted to prescription drugs and meth. Neglecting our daughter where previously she'd been an amazing mom. I finally divorced her and took our daughter. When I did, the meaning af this song seemed so clear. It was almost as if she had become soulless... Shame. I really loved her. | |
