Glen Campbell – Wichita Lineman Lyrics

To me, song is about loneliness. His only personal interaction is hearing people on a phone line. He doesn't know how to break out of it. Even knowing he needs a vacation but not willing to leave his job, i.e., can't leave his loneliness. |

U2 – New Year's Day Lyrics

Knowing U2 to be good Catholic boys, I too believe the song has religious "Revelation" imagery. New Year's Day is the day of "New Jerusalem" when the material earth is gone, after the apocalypse, and replaced by Heaven. "The chosen few" refers to the 144,000 that escape the Apocalypse and are taken directly to Heaven due to their purity. "Though torn in two we become One" refers to the veil that separates the Holy of Holies from the remainder of The Temple which was torn in two when Christ died on the Cross symbolizing the reconciliation of man with God (no longer was man separated from God). Just one man's opinion. |

Lana Del Rey – Video Games Lyrics

This is not a happy love song. It appears to me the singer is in a bullied type relationship. The singer has low self esteem and is constantly trying to win the approval of someone who takes advantage of her. Of course, the irony is that the "bullier" gets off on the power of bullying and will continue bullying to gain more power; however, the "bullied" is constantly doing more to please the "bullier" so that the "bullier" will finally appreciate the "bullied" and stop the bullying. |

The Lemonheads – It's A Shame About Ray Lyrics
| 12 years ago

For so few words, this is actually a difficult song to understand. It's either just simple lyrics with no meaning other than putting together rhyming words or it's genius in its simplicity with deep meaning. My take is that Ray is just someone the singer has heard about because their appears to be no real emotion in talking about Ray. Something bad has happened to Ray such as death or jail or illness due to bad choices such as addition. The singer sub-consciously knows he's on the same path as Ray but is consciously trying to distance his situation from Ray's. |

Bob Marley and the Wailers – Three Little Birds Lyrics
| 12 years ago

Three Little Birds is full of Christian ideology. There are three birds representing The Trinity (God) which sing sweet melodies that are "pure and true". Their message is not to worry. Read Matthew 6:25-27. Jesus talks about not to worry and and uses "birds" as the example of creatures that do not worry. Christ was found to have been risen from death in the morning. The singer rose up in the morning and smiled with the "rising sun" (Rising Son). Whether it was intentional or not, there are too many coincidences for this song not to represent Christ. |

I agree with some of the other comments. The song is very simple but packs a lot of meaning. Three little birds providing a message - pure and true. Every little thing is going to be all right. To me, it's the Trinity sending the message. |

Switchfoot – Dare You To Move Lyrics

It's sounds to me as if the artist is trying to say that mistakes aren't the end. There is always an opportunity to correct mistakes, seek redemption, and to be granted forgiveness. However, the first step to make things right is to move. |
