Kanye West – Hold My Liquor Lyrics 10 years ago
The track is rather well produced, including from the amazing bass, and the rounds in melodies. Particularly, at:

I heard you need a new fad
I heard you need a new stack
I heard you need a new phone
I know your 'rents ain't be home

I'm rather surprised the track hasn't recieved as much attention with Chief Keef's current notoriety: but then I assume this is why the song will NOT (I predict) be released as a single.

Britney Spears – He About To Lose Me Lyrics 12 years ago
____

I like this part right here in the beginning and the last lyrics of the end. Following | by my interpretation.

I'm touching hands with someone seriously beautiful | As opposed to someone trivially good looking

I'm telling lies and if it shows I see that he don't care | Alludes to an affair, an understanding of an affair

___

There's an internal conflict for the writer of this song. She feels some sort of irony and ambivalence. She knows what she's capable of doing, of whats "about" to happen. She feels sympathy for one guy whoever that "he" is. The mundane yet so deep understanding of lust. And how it converts itself into "love" and something seriously beautiful. It speaks volumes of Spears' ability to constantly reinvent herself through love. These techno-pop songs with ballad-like riffs and soulful beats like Unusual You, Amnesia, or this here-He About To Lose Me- are all symbolic of Spears' perpetual renewal vows of love and it should also speak of her talent, which is beyond remarkable, its worth some merit.

Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics 12 years ago

We might kiss when we are alone | Implies secrecy.
When nobody's watching | Confirms the discretion.
We might take it home | ----We can be private.
We might make out when nobody's there | No need to worry, because we're alone in private.
It's not that we're scared | Theres nothing to fear on both our parts.
It's just that it's delicate | Perhaps this is forbidden love? I concur with it being a secret love affair.

We might live like never before | Have moments that are remarkable.
When there's nothing to give | There is no foundation to build a relationship?
Well how can we ask for more | So how can we work this out?
We might make love in some sacred place | Making love.
The look on your face is delicate | parallels here the word "delicate" to her beauty while making love.

So why do you fill my sorrow | Why did you engage in this love affair?
With the words you've borrowed | Words like I LOVE YOU
From the only place you've known | What did these words mean to you?
And why do you sing Hallelujah | Why did you tell me you love me?
If it means nothing to you | If you didn't mean it
Why do you sing with me at all? | Heartbreak!

Fiona Apple – Extraordinary Machine Lyrics 12 years ago
This song has a profound meaning for me personally and also I believe it is a strong cultural and philosophical manifestation of what Fiona Apple's personal artistic aim was with her entire album (either the Free-Fiona-leaked version or even the "official" Epic Records release).
_____

My rather psychoanalytical deconstruction of Extraordinary Machine by Fiona Apple. She's basically saying:

I'm a dignified individual: worthy of proper value. If you decide not to treat me with dignity and respect, then oh well, thats your prerogative. You can judge me as snobby as you wish. I'm doing my own thing. "Be kind to me" or be "mean", its ok, I'll remain peaceful because I am human, and I'll be just fine.

"If there was a better way to go..." per your judgement as you "seek to find a new disaster [flaw] everyday" - well, regardless,I do things as I find them practical and logical to be done in my own way as its laid in its unique path or "road that rolls out behind me".

Kudos Ms. Apple!

Marcy Playground – Saint Joe on the School Bus Lyrics 12 years ago
Ok, my input is a mixture of what I believe the song has meaning of and what it evokes in my own personal memory and my own interpretation.

Personally, I went to an all boys Catholic high school in the mid-late nineteen nineties. And the song has such a resonance with my experience of being bullied there. Ironically enough, as I'm sure many of you might find it just a mere coincidence, my high school was called Saint Joseph. I was teased for being gay. The school was full of and remains to be extremely homophobic.

The objectification of divergent forms of sexuality had always been looked at as taboo, strange, frowned upon.

During my junior year, one of the seniors had decided to revolt against the reeking of homophobic rhetoric at the school: and now I retrospectively look at what he did as a rather admirable thing. He showed up to Saint Joe's 2001 Senior Prom in full drag "made up like a woman" and with a male date: just to make a counter-statement. That the school, the following year had to make strict regulations in spite of the incident.

The school made it mandatory that the (then all male) senior prom attendees bring a date of the opposite sex and in "proper" attire.

So this song has an intensely meaningful depth for me, since I'm gay and wasn't harbored a safe space to come out in the late 1990's Chicago suburbia.

I don't mean to defame the school, since they have since redeemed themselves by turning the school co-ed and rumor has it that they now have a GSA (Gay Straight Alliance)....

who cares, ultimately high school in America is a big joke, and i only remember it as a blur. :)
