He didn't do anything. My guess would be that K-OS was trying to pick a fight with him solely because feuds between rappers were stylish at the time and good for publicity. lol Seriously. K-OS' music took a nose dive after this album for me. I still liked Hymns for Atlantis for many of the songs, but mostly for the sound and less for the lyrics. Lyrically he's repetitive and most of the time he's just throwing a bunch of words around without actually saying anything. It's sort of disappointing because this album was so excellent. :( |

Just in case people are wondering--not sure if anyone has commented on it already, or if this is just common knowledge (it wasn't for me lol)--from what I understand, coconut skins is actually a marijuana reference, or more precisely a reference to rolling papers. So, "I've been licking coconut skins..." in other words, he's been rolling some joints. Haven't we all..... :D.

It's kind of funny reading people's interpretations of this song only because members of the band have actually stated in interviews that the lyrics of the song don't really mean anything. The song was meant to be about the harmony of the vocals, the words were pretty much meaningless; not to burst everyone's bubble or anything lol. That being said, it really is a beautiful song, and fun to sing along to!

This was the first song I ever listened to by this band and it is still one of my favourites!
From the very beginning when the drums and the heavy symbols start. The line "what's in your empty eyes" get's me everytime lol. The harmony gives me goosebumps! As for what the song means, I'm not 100% sure, but I love it anyway! |
