Such a beautiful song. Pretty obvious meaning with the palmistry reference, 'just keep following the heart lines on your hand' - follow your destiny, do what you're meant to do and what has to be done for you to be happy. At least, that's the meaning I take from it. Florence is lovely as always. |

Pretty obvious meaning, about somebody who she was once in love with and then things changed. She is looking back on their relationship, reflecting on the good times and the bad, and coming to terms with the fact that they won't be together anymore. She used to dream that they were an angel, but now that is not the case. Simple song but one of the best on the latest album. |

I don't know how there aren't more comments on this song, it's one of the strongest on Volume 2. But yes, I think it's possibly about the end of a relationship, and having to force yourself not to look back (dwell on the past), even though it's hard. All you'll get is memories you cannot change. Love the mythological twist to it. |

Beautiful song, I'm in love with her voice. The way I see it, and probably because of my own current situation, it's about the end of a relationship. Perhaps he is still stringing her along, and she misses him so much and feels as if she needs him. But at the same time she doesn't want to feel this lovesick anymore, she wants to move on and even to find somebody new to distract her and help her move on: 'Won't someone come on in and tug at my seams Or send your armies in Robbers and thieves To steal the state I'm in I don't want it anymore'. So in summary, it could be about being in love with somebody who is no longer good for you, they turn you into a 'basket case', and wanting to be out from under their influence. That's just me! |
