Lana Del Rey – Pretty Baby Lyrics 10 years ago
This song definitely has a similar tone to "For K: Part 2," and both lyrics have the same seductive feeling.

That's what I thought, it makes more sense to me for some reason.

Lana Del Rey – Money Hunny Lyrics 11 years ago
This song just blatantly shows the pain people will go through for money. Money makes people corrupt. It's sad but true.

Regina Spektor – Bobbing for Apples Lyrics 12 years ago
It's so funny how in the end she sings "song" as if it's the sound of a bed squeaking.

Regina Spektor – The Flowers Lyrics 12 years ago
I think that this song means how when someone loves something so dearly, they don't want to fall asleep; fearing that they won't be able to wake up to see the person or thing they love. The stanza starting with, "The papers around me..." I think, has to do with how Regina incorporates references to literature in some of her songs. I love this song so much, it's my favorite, especially because I feel that this song is closer to Regina than most of her songs.

Regina Spektor – Summer in the City Lyrics 12 years ago
I do love the point about cleavage meaning separation from one's love. But I have to agree with Illinoisjoe because the tone really does give off a male's mind. I think that the lyrics are from a male perspective because of how men are usually shown to be focusing more on sex than women.

Regina Spektor – Summer in the City Lyrics 12 years ago
I think that this song is just about a guy who is really horny, and wants to have sex but his girlfriend is not there. So all this guy sees is the distractions of women in the city, and it is so hard for him that he has to constantly remind himself that he misses his girlfriend or wife or whatever. It's the lyric, "So I went to a protest just to rub up against strangers And I did feel like coming but I also felt like crying It doesn't seem so worth it right now" that convinces me that this guy is so tempted to have sex that he has to go to a protest just to feel the bodies of others as a way to get release, but he also is disappointed in himself for being so desperate. By the way, this song definitely seems like it's a man's perspective because Regina doesn't sing all her songs about her; she writes stories so it can be about anything.

Regina Spektor – Reading Time with Pickle Lyrics 12 years ago
I feel like that Regina is singing in a perspective of a man, and I guess that the jar of pickles in the store would represent pornography because she sings "bought the jar, took it home." She doesn't sing buy the pickles cause I guess the jar is a pornographic magazine, and the pickles are the different naked women he sees on the magazine, especially when she sings, "made eye contact with a solitary pickle" (or with a solitary woman) and there are many women in a magazine like many pickles in a jar. But "solitary" also represents him, since he is a lonely guy who doesn't know what love is. As a guy, I can totally understand why its a man's perspective, and the lyrics, "then sleeping time, not sleepy so reading time with pickle," is kind of a guy's mind because I don't think most women think that way about masterbation.

Regina Spektor – The Virgin Queen Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree with this song being about Queen Elizabeth, especially because of the lyrics, "I may be a cruel, crude woman" which explains her as a woman who is dominant. I also like the lyrics,"In the bedroom You will suture up that hole Where the babies come from" which goes with the Virgin Queen part because "that hole" is her vagina, and thats where babies come from. And Regina also mentions Shakespeare, which definitely goes with this time period. I love how she quotes Shakespeare. I also agree with princeauport345 because in the song, the lyrics, "On the distant shores new voices are rising" is referencing how at the time people were sailing to America, or to a new world, and the "new voices" could possibly be native americans, who are trying to raise their voice against these people coming onto their land, but that's just a guess.
