Nope. It's about a fishing trip they took. And a little about drugs. But not LSD. It's in the book. |

It says in the book it's about Kurt Cobain. I don't see the connection but that's what the other band members said. |

Warpaint – Bees Lyrics

I think it's about a person (the singer) who's simply telling somebody they were in a relationship with it's taken them to long to get their act together - in order to fix the relationship and that they are moving on. |

Kevin Devine – Between the Concrete and Clouds Lyrics

In His Words: "My life with god: Catholic, atheist, agnostic. Or, yes, no, I don't know. That's the content of the song boiled to a couple words. It's a very complicated couple words, and it's been a very complicated series of events and reflections twisting through a life getting here. 'Here' is subject to change. There's freedom in not knowing, in taking pause, in struggling to be a good person regardless, in letting go of your knotted preconceptions. Musically, this was a folk song that I also thought could sound cool in the style of a Nirvana or Pixies song. Aaron from Earlimart said he thought it sounded like old Matthew Sweet. I'll accept that gladly as well." |

Oh - and I'm not one of those that thinks that all songs are about religion, sex, or death but that first verse is definitely about God. |

Portugal. The Man – Sleep Forever Lyrics

The first verse is definitely about not being afraid to answer to or confront God when he dies. There can be no other "Him" he's talking about. The song is obviously about dying.
The second verse says that he'll leave life the same exact way that everybody else will but how he gets to that point will be his own way and not in the same direction as everyone else so to speak. He's not going to live his life according or like others. He's not going to be a follower.
And the rest of the song just sounds like he's tired of living and wants to just lay down and sleep forever - pass away. Something I can relate to sometime - no, no suicidal - and I'm sure I'm not the only one. |
