I'm very open-minded when it comes to songs because, after all, they are meant to be interpreted in any way the listener chooses. That being said, the way people think these days is very openly. I'm not saying that the singer or songwriter(s) have actually experimented sexually, it's just a possibility that the narrator for this song is seriously trying to piss off the person it's directed to. Also, with current times, people tend to be open with their sexually and tend to experiment more often in order to find whatever it is that they like or are comfortable with----they test their limitations, often finding that there are fewer than expected. In other words, don't knock it 'til you've tried it ;} |

In a very literal sense... This song is about hypocrites who used to ignore the right to a fair trail--back in the days. The courts where these trails would take place were simply called "Kangaroo" courts, where small-time junkies/drug users/etc would be prosecuted and executed for their actions. "The pot calling the kettle black" is a saying directed at hypocrites because it states that the pot is calling the kettle black when in reality it's seeing its own reflection. It can also be deciphered where the pot is just as black as the kettle, therefore, it's like if a serial killer was to call another serial killer "heartless" or "inhumane" for their actions, methods....same shit. Another popular saying that this refers to in terms of being a hypocrite is, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones", in which Maynard sings, "don't go tossing your stones around". This is a literal interpretation of how the song depicts the unfairness that occurs in court systems, then and now, and how the government is just as guilty when it comes to drugs or wrongful punishments. That being said, you're free to interpret this in your own way. |

I believe the singer is referring to the fact that he's gone "around and around", meaning he's gotten that loopy feeling off drugs and obviously experimented while being high--like heaven, but since it's a bad trip, heaven doesn't exist here. So, in these experiments, he hasn't only been with girls, but guys as well. Hence nothing being "confidential", other people know this too, obviously, because they've been spreading these rumours around. The whole "boyfriend who looked like a girlfriend" thing can be related to the singer mocking this chick by saying he fucked her boyfriend, literal or not, he's basically calling this guy a little bitch. It's probable that he's tryng to impress her by doing so, either that or he's seriously trying to piss her off. Doesnt matter though, 'cuz everything goes in a place like this ;} |
