I don't think it's pathetic and why be mean about it? These are song meanings right? People trying to figure out meanings out of their own intellect. Call me the fool on the hill but how wise is it to put all of these people down for sharing their ideas? What if Paul did have someone in mind when he wrote this? Would it make "your point" any less true? Of course it wouldn't. I loved what you wrote but have a heart about it too. |

I didn't rate your comment down and I'm not looking to argue with you but if you were pulling shit or doing her wrong without apologizing then why wouldn't she be mad? People are only human. Focusing on the positive's a good way to be but people want justice when they're wronged and no one likes to be wronged ..other than masochists :) I know I don't know you or what happened in your relationship but it sounds a little like your blowing off whatever you did to her and telling her don't get angry about it. Don't you get angry when she does you wrong? Or why did you dump her? ;);) |

I agree with what you pointed out FoodandLiquor. Kimbra's words back to Gotye have everyone suddenly feeling empathy towards Kimbra but I do feel there may be more to the story too. For example the idea "he felt lonely in her company" leads me to think she would neglect him or that she wouldn't talk to him. But then you hear her saying "I don't want to live that way, reading into every word that you say" and you start to wonder if she's shutting down (not talking) because she's sick of Gotye accusing her or his blaming her for he did whatever he did to her. It would be interesting to know if Kimbra wasn't communicating enough before the arguments started or if she started to shut down "after" Gotye started arguing/blaming her. Anyhow it does sound as if both people were to blame with Gotye being more guilty (at fault) than Kimbra was. What a song :) You make some good points too Kalimka ;) |

From all that I've read it seems he just had a mental breakdown, or breakdowns, after probably too many bad trips and he no longer wanted to play anymore. There was talk of him strumming one cord through a whole song and other things like that. There are interviews after "mutually" leaving the band where he stated he stopped taking acid and he then pretty much left the music and the culture to live a quiet life in his Mom's house for the rest of his life. He stayed tight with his sister and was known to be into painting and was an avid gardener but wanted no part of the music or culture he once loved. From what I've read he didn't like to talk about it or have someone bring it all up because it was still so painful think about.. |
