Pearl Jam – Given to Fly Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Odds are that it is not about Jesus, as Eddie is an open atheist, and clearly writes about his atheism in other works. This song does bear an uncanny resemblance to the story of Jesus Christ, but I wouldn't say that it's about him. I believe I read somewhere that it is a metaphor about surfing. |

Excuse me, *"But I'll always know in my life, he's not the only one." |
Basia Bulat – In the Night Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I believe in the chorus she is saying, "He's soon to fall, if I let him go. But I know in my life, he's not the only one." |
Basia Bulat – If It Rains Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I don't mind if it rains I don't mind if it rains If I leave my friends where I found them Could I make my soul a mountain? Could I tell them not to worry if it rains? The road is dry up ahead But the sun might burn me to death Could the love I have be all grown out? Well the only way to find it Is to hold them where the sun can't dry them out. If I ever ask for more Still they say they're sure - Everyone has said those words Even I've heard them before If it's easier just to run I'm as hurried as anyone But somehow you'll know When the wind's blowing colder They'll turn around slower and say to you - I don't mind if it rains I don't mind if it rains You can leave your friends where you found them For your soul is still a mountain And you can tell them not to worry if it rains. Basia Bulat – I'm Forgetting Everyone Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Mine was a memory of amber walls Yours was a house with the strangest doors. One day you told me your heart was full I wanted to know what the trouble was. I loved a story for what it's worth Spun them around me to watch them grow Like you found a way to forget some time ago That I was your waterfall. When you say that you'd been good But you don't know where you were I'm forgetting every word I'm forgetting everyone Where the water's falling slowly Where the river comes undone I'm forgetting every word I'm forgetting everyone. How did you bury these trails in dirt? Must be the way that you carry on I can recall every second thought You watered them dearly and drowned them all. I had been searching for Camelot Finding your way somewhere down below When you found a way to forgive Some time ago, without ever asking first. When you say that you'd been good But you don't know where you were I'm forgetting every word I'm forgetting everyone Where the water's falling slowly Where the river's come undone I'm forgetting every word I'm forgetting every word. Basia Bulat – Run Lyrics | 13 years ago |
If I ever found the cause of this sadness, I know it would be Impossible to keep the vision against all of me When I took myself far and away from everyone that I knew If you're looking for the moon, is it ever when it's new? When the iron is cold and the binding holds fast on to you When I listen for the footsteps that nearly knock me Down in the room "The tower is gone", you say, but how well can you really see? Oh you'll find it by and by In a heartbeat you'll be free and you will Run run run run run run run run run Run run run run run run run run run Run run run run run run run run run Keep running back to me. Over both of our heads you've been searching To find a way soon But there's nothing that I want more than a reason To be following you When you bring out the matches just remember that I own them all too If a lie won't go too deep, in a heartbeat you'll be free And you will Run run run run run run run run run Run run run run run run run run run Run run run run run run run run run Keep running back to me. Run run run run run run run run run Run run run run run run run run run Run run run run run run run run run Keep running back to me Keep running back to me, to me, to me. Basia Bulat – If Only You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I'm giving up, I'm going home, I'm leaving you behind A sorry suit, no substitute, I've never been so tired I've tried before, I wanted more, no matter what you had If only you would have the heart to take it back If only you would ever have the heart to ask. And now you've said, too many times, That trouble's walking by. I've met them once or twice before, but never so unkind. I'll stand aside, I'll walk behind, no matter what you had If only you would have the heart to take it back If only you would ever have the mind to ask. No, don't I know that I've been this way before. I'd find my way out of any game of yours. You can't deny when it's me you're thinking of And I'll play along just to give it up. So now I know I've said hello to Jekyll and to Hyde The trouble is I still can't say who I want by my side Truth be told I love them both, and I'm no better half. If only you would have the heart to take me back. If only you would ever have the heart to ask. Basia Bulat – Sparrow Lyrics | 13 years ago |
If ire is not a friend to me, then I might live in peace. I'd give away my wooden ears Help you teach your frozen lips to speak You have not stolen dear, but you can hardly sleep. The horns and shells you've gathered here One day, the one you battle might be me. Let your bird go lost. I will bring her back to you in Spring. She won't change at all Let your sparrow fall to what might be. And when you've done your howling, and done with everything If she is gone for months again Will you still say you watch for sparrow wings? You have not stolen dear, but I can plainly see. The horns and shells you've gathered here One day, the one you battle might be me. Let your bird go lost. I will bring her back to you in Spring. She won't change at all Let your sparrow fall to what might be. She won't change at all Let your sparrow fall. She won't change at all Let your sparrow fall. Basia Bulat - Vocals, Ukulele |
Basia Bulat – Heart of My Own Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Under that burning ether that falls Down on these walls Burning my arms I've been alarmed of what is said by you. For every word I could undo I've been uncrossed, and I've been untrue I've been the thorn, I've been the heart. But the heart of my own - burn it down low The light in your verse and the shadow between The way that I was when I used to know. If I go, what do I hold? Oh, the maid or the mother I'll be If only the loom and the thread were whole. It is work to be dancing out here If tomorrow I'm mending the empty bones. There are roses that come without seeking, There are the ones that I have to sow In your verses that I am repeating The way that I was when I used to know. I wrote on these walls a simple charm to keep the wolves at bay. Gave all my heart the strength of my arms To hold you close and safe. But I kept my eyes closed, I'll never know Where the shadows are these days. I stood in the room of a house divided And it washed away from me Oh, and it washed away from me. Oh, and it washed away from me It washed away from me to take my own. Burn it down low - The light in your verse and the shadow between The way that I was when I used to know. Basia Bulat – Walk You Down Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Anytime that you ask for me With a promise you can never keep If you know devotion is hard to see You're never looking for your crown. But it's there every time you're near me Now I know that I love you dearly And you know the ending better than me It's all tied up in my hair like the prettiest song. And the day you fall apart, If you're not too proud, will you walk me down? When I've been so lost And if I never give you up, If I'm not too proud, oh I'll walk you down. If you never turn your mind on me Where the chapel in your eyes had been If you know devotion is hard to keep And you can only let it go. But it's there anytime you're near me Oh I know that I love you dearly But you know the ending better than me You're hanging me in your crown where I don't belong. And the day you fall apart, If you're not too proud, will you walk me down? When I've been so lost And if I never give you up, If I'm not too proud, oh I'll walk you down. But if it seems dark when I say that you're mine If all confessions were enough, dear If I only knew how I'm still there tied up in that crown. On the day I fall apart If you're not too proud Will you walk me down? Well I've been so lost, I never want to give you up But I know I'm found Oh, I've heard it now. Oh I'll walk you down. Netbus, that's a really good interpretation. I always wondered what this song was about, and I think you may have nailed it! When I look at the lyrics using your interpretation it makes a lot of sense. :] |

Basia Bulat – Gold Rush Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"The song 'Gold Rush' is a lot about obsession and also power of imagination. So not necessarily always a constructive force, but also a destructive force, and speculation on how that can be a very negative thing." - Basia Bulat |
