There's a button to add my own thoughts,so that's just what I'll do! :P To me the song seems to be about infatuation, most likely after spending a night together. Realistically speaking Gary Lightbody was a young man when he wrote this song and it really reflects it. He doesn't say that he's in love with her, or even that they've spent any particular time together but he seems really taken in by her. And to say " I care about you" is like the first emotional line a guy knows how to use. It also never mentions how she feels but it doesn't really seem relevent, the song's about his feelings and his interest in her. I think there's also probably a double meaning to that line about running with his legs tied together, it's probably about that rush of passion in undressing quickly but I also think it's about how he knows (and enjoys) the fact that this connection hasn't a hope but he's going to try crazily all the same (hence running but doomed to fall from the start, and waving his arms wildly on the way down, without protection to his fall.) On a light note, I feckin love this song!! |

To put it really simple its about loving a woman who doesn't love you back. Just look at th echorus when he says "trying to love you but you treat me like a hotel" which sounds like she just wants a short time with him and just uses him.The last lines sound like him breaking free of that hold she has on him. "I know I'm beautiful, and I shouldn't work, but I do And I can do better than you" Really great stuff. Bell X1 do such simple and brilliant acoustic songs, I actually can't understand why they don't do more |

| It's really difficult to decipher this song but the most striking thing he says has always been the last line for me. "You counted 74 swans and I was 75." Given the fact that swans mate for life its like he's talking to a woman that he's in love with but we find out at the end that she's with somebody else and that he's on his own. Really beautiful, kinda like the "Wild swans at Coole" by Yeats | |

| I think its just about a problem in a relationship and that the references to pregnancy are coincidental for example when he says "Maybe its all about sowing my seed" he's saying "Is that all there is to a relationship?" Also I think when he say "Like Salvador's dream that its a reference to the surrealist Salvador Dali because dreams tend to be messed up | |
