Snow Patrol – New York Lyrics 12 years ago
This song can be compared to Jim and Pam off of The Office (not saying this song is based off of that). Basically, Pam has to go to New York for 6 months to take a class, leaving Jim in Scranton. He misses her insanely.

This song is about actual, literal distance being hurtful in a relationship. The girl is in New York for some reason, and the guy loves her and misses her insanely. His life back wherever he is is meaningless, and lonely. The girl left right when things were starting to get good for them, they were really hitting it off, falling in love (the fire that was starting to spark). He ends the song with "the fire that's starting to go out". This means that the distance between the two of them is causing him to maybe despise her for not being with him. He's falling out of love. This is a very sad/wanting song.

OneRepublic – Say (All I Need) Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is about a guy who was deeply in love with this girl, but broke up with her to chase another girl he thought he loved more. He realizes that he misses the other girl, but she won't take him back, and his heart is breaking. In the verses, he's talking to himself, kind of angry, kind of feeling sorry for himself. Same with the pre-chorus. "Well bless my soul, you're a lonely soul", etc. In the chorus, he's trying to convince himself he doesn't need love. In the bridge, when he says "do you think you can find it better than you had it?", he's very much regretting breaking up with the first girl, because he feels like that was the best thing in his life, and he won't be able to find anything better, and he's mad at himself. In the last verse "do you know where the end is? Do you think you can see it? Until you get there, go on, go ahead and scream it", he's talking about the end of his pain, not the end of the world or the end of his life. "go ahead and scream it" refers to the chorus. It means show the world you're ok, that you don't need love, until you find another.

John Mayer – Gravity Lyrics 13 years ago
To me, this song is about falling back in love with an ex, and you know you shouldn't fall in love with her, and you don't want to, but you can't help it. When he says "Gravity is working against me", he's trying not to fall in love, but he is. When he says "I'll never know what makes this man with all the love that his heart can stand", he's sort of mad at himself for falling back in love with this ex, because he doesn't know why. When he says "Twice as much ain't twice as good, and can't sustain like one half could", he's sort of lying to himself to try to convince himself not to fall in love with her again. At the end, he says "Gravity, stay the hell away from me", hes desperately trying not to fall in love again. He also says "Gravity has taken better men than me, how can that be?" he's realizing that if men better than him couldn't stop falling in love, that he wont be able to do it either. So after, he says "Just keep me where the light is, c'mon keep me where the light is", he's kind of praying and begging that he won't fall in love with her again.
