The Dead Weather – Blue Blood Blues Lyrics 6 years ago
I interpreted the title "Blue Blood Blues" as "white man's blues" at first, but there seemed to be more to the lyrics. I looked it up to find some new interpretations and the following piece of information at songfacts:
"This song talks about the negation of self that often happens when caught up in an all-consuming affair." (No direct quote is given though.)
It is also stated that they were writing lyrics at soundchecks (as said by Mosshart). I guess with The Dead Weather, the music and energy is the core, and the lyrics are there to complement the music. Not throwaway probably, but spontaneous.

@[julimagination:16420] Yours must be the most sensible and thoughtful interpretation here, and yet you're modest about it.

@[etherfire:16419] There are too many songs with the word baby in it. In this case it means baby angels.

@[brocksprogram:16418] You are correct about references being biblical but it's not meant to support religion but mock it. "The third planet is sure that it's being watched by an eye in the sky that can't be stopped" is referring to the religious, not the atheists.

Modest Mouse – 3rd Planet Lyrics 7 years ago
It's mostly about: planet Earth, universe, creation, religion.

"The third planet is sure that they're being watched
By an eye in the sky..."
-- obviously about religion.

"Well, outside naked, shivering, looking blue..."
-- just MAYBE it's about Adam and Eve? After the fall?

"...we used to be three and not just two"
since the first part of the song had clear religious references, and mocking ideas like "shaking eye's hand", I thought this part could have something to do with Lilith (Adam's first wife) and how Christians were selective in their copy-pasting of Jewish myths, but then I've read one of the interpretations suggesting it was about time when Adam and Eve lived beside God (before eviction). There were also angels, if I recall correctly... Just one of the options for those who are not so excited about the abortion interpretation.

"And that's how the world began"
-- sounds familiar.

"A third had just been made and we were swimming in the
water..."
A third PLANET had been made. And it was covered with water before land was created.

There are a lot more obscure lines which could mean something or be the classical lyrical gibberish (like you don't know). But these are the most obvious.

@[sunshinedaydream:16415] Don't just leap into the abortion thing like that. It might have little to do with it or nothing to do at all. The focus of the song for the most part is the actual 3rd planet (which is Earth) and thoughts on its origins, especially, religious interpretations, there's a whole verse dedicated to it (and you've missed the point of it completely). They're not religious that's why it was sarcastic, mocking religion.
