He wants to get out of the stupid town that he unfortunately lives in. He can't take it. He needs to get out and away from everyone. His friends seem like they have just got used to the idea that they're going to stay in that town for the rest of their lives and they just don't care anymore. He has someone that shares his same thoughts and they stand together on a lot of things. Lately, something has been wrong between the two of them and he feels it as if though it's his fault. Thinking that maybe he's always wrong. He wants this person to know that he is still there for them. No one understands him. He has dreams to get out of that town and that's what hes going to do. He's not going to listen to some dumb people tell him that he can't make it in what he wants to pursue. He's going to go out ther and make something of himself whether they believe in him or not. He's going to get out and reach for his dreams. He did everything to get him to where he is today. Time is precious and so much bigger than all of us. He can't just conform to other peoples' thoughts and beliefs. He's here to stand for something big and no one can stop him from saying what he has to say. He's going to say whatever and they con't do anything about it to stop him. They stand for the same thing. It also means to me, that this person he is talking about needs to stop listening to the thoughts of other people, that he or she needs to continue to stand for what they believe in. They stand for something together, they're not just like the people around them. <3 I love this song. I think most people can relate so much to it, that just makes it even more beautiful. CORRECTION. I feel that this song is about a relationship that has gone down hill. They keep arguing and things just aren't getting better, but he wants things to get better. He wants to make things work, but it's just not working. "The words to keep you home are failing." I feel that this song symbolizes the end of a relationship and in the end, the only thing that will really be remembered or thought about or even talked about among friends is the end of the relationship, when things were bad and not happy even though at the beginning of the realtionship, things were good, those good times won't be thought about, "The story left untold is better than you know." You can tell that things were good at the beginning "Of all the nights we spent, wrapped in blankest, no mattress on the floor, we now hold sacred, you were my best friend." This is pretty much saying that they were close and they spent a lot of time together. They had good times, but now it's come to an end. He doesn't want this to end, but she's walking away, but he still has stuff to say to her, they just give up on what they had. "Slow down, take a deep breath, we can't give up tonight." Then thw chorus talks about how they're letting go of a relationship, but he doesn't want to see what they had die. The bridge is just basically saying that he has stuff left to say and if she would just slow down, he can say it and maybe she won't slip away from him. Yeaah, that's what I think the song means. To me, this song is like him saying that whatever he says is just a "Lyrical Lie". Him being a musician and a son writer, he pretty much knows what to say and he really got to this one girl. "And think what I just wrote is going over my head, I'm stealing lines from myself and what I said was never said, It's just a lyrical lie, made up in my mind." To me, when I hear that, I think of him just thinking, what I just said to you was a complete lie but you're still here with me, you believed me. She believes what he is saying and she wants to be showered in his poetry and his music "You want to be dressed in poetry." But since what he is saying is just a lie, whatever poetry he is saying to her doesn't fit her, "but imagery doesn't fit." That's just what I think. (: I love this song :D |
