Tom Waits – Chocolate Jesus Lyrics 12 years ago
Not so ironic. Marketing follows your every move on the internet. Google is notorious for this. I used to constantly get adds for whatever I was writing about or surfing or shopping for. Lo and behold there would appear links/ad's for the item or something similar. I added "Ad-Block" to my browser and it has successfully blocked these adds.

So, your post is spot-on about religion being exploited, homogenized and capitalized on in every way possible, including Chocolate Jesus's etc. Just about anything can be bought to "spread the word" or just get your $$$. Sad... So something/everything that may be considered "sacred" to some is cheapened by greed, as usual.

Metric – Black Sheep Lyrics 12 years ago
Yes,the internet did exist back then and most pc's were extremely slow and very hard to use, the technology just wasn't anywhere near what it is today. With those awful dial up connections that run on your land line, so you can't use the phone when on the pc. Today there are places "out in the sticks" for example: South Carolina, that still only have AO-Hell with super slow, shitty dial up connections. Yup, no Comcast, Verizon, etc.

And, unfortunately we had and (still do have) major illiteracy and lack of respect for the English language.

What the hell does the statement: "I'm in lesbians with this song" even mean?

Johnette Napolitano – Suicide Note Lyrics 12 years ago
Well written, perfect interpretation. Your Mother's story made me cry because I feel that way a lot, just wanting to stop it all, disappear...fade away. She is an angel now, watching over you. You have become stronger for what you've gone through and I admire that. I wish you a happy life, my friend.

Mazzy Star – Fade Into You Lyrics 12 years ago
I hope you told him how you felt years ago and are now married. It's quite possible that when he offered to do "anything to make your b-day wish come true" he was hoping upon hope that you would tell him you loved him. But then, I still believe in fairy tales. Probably because after going through so much pain, loss and suffering for years trying to find my "soul mate," I finally did and happy endings DO come true. That is as long as you are not afraid to love and equally; not afraid to reach out to love, "to hold that hand inside and dare to take the breath that's true." She wants him to be able to see her love and he doesn't. This song as it's written is very, very sad because she never finds the courage to reach out to him and he's too blind to see, so without her love he just "fades to black, remaining the stranger." Remember always that we make our own "endings." So even though this song is so solemn and sad and filled with unrequited love, you can learn so much from it and find the courage to realize your dreams and turn things around. True love is nothing to fear, true love doesn't hurt. It's not always easy and requires commitment and work but it doesn't hurt and if your relationship is good and healthy you constantly evolve and grow as friends and lovers. You take that hand inside and you hold it and it sets you free.

Ok...thanks for letting us know the meaning of these slang words. Everybody would understand this simple song if they knew these words. Understanding the slang coupled with watching the video makes it self ex-planetary.

Here's a thought, maybe your an ALIEN from some skanky planet which causes you to live and think in an alternate reality. This would be the reason that your warped imagination has made you come up with such a preposterous interpretation. Your digging way too deep. This song is simply about a waitress who is saying (with her mind & actions) to the guy she has a crush on, "I've got "brass" (coin) in my pocket and a "bottle" of (booze for us to share). I'm "special" (not like those other chicks) I've got game. IE, I'm sexy, ready, willing and able to use all I've got to impress you and make YOU feel good, so notice me! See the video...it's pretty much obvious once you've seen it. To everyone who keeps referring to the non word "reet" in the lyrics, it's obviously a typo and should read "real." On a closing note my alien friend, I've just got to say "reet reet."

Silverchair – Ana's Song (Open Fire) Lyrics 13 years ago
Of course he hates it, at the time he was killing himself. People feel like they love this disease because often they feel they have no control over their lives. This is usually the one thing they can control. Not eating gives them a sense of power. Our society puts so much pressure on people to be thin. Fashion and beauty dictate that if you're not thin your ugly and a slob. And yet, something like 40% of the us population is overweight and the numbers are climbing for children, the statistics project it will get worse in the future. Being in the public eye is worse, the pressure for musicians, models, actors etc. is just horrible. There are many musicians that are extremely talented but overlooked by media and people because they aren't thin or pretty enough for today's standards. So it is not surprising at all that Daniel had this problem, the band was definitely under-rated and he must have felt much pressure to become more popular. Look at "The Gossip" the singer is overweight, she is awesome because she says fuck you to the world and doesn't seem to care whether she becomes famous or not. They are an amazing band and she has a killer voice but due to her size, so many people don't even know who they are...pathetic. Half or more of the bands out there don't even come close to the talent she has. Another example is Ann Wilson of Heart..brilliant singer and band. Their record company used to use special camera angles to photograph her to make her appear thinner. I once read about them in Cream Magazine and they referred to her as a "fat pig" so no wonder people, all people feel the pressure to be thin and end up with either ana or mia. They give heroin and pills to models to stay thin. The whole thing makes me sick and ashamed of the perpetrators of this unjust b/s.

I feel he's saying that the tears hurt so bad they feel like sandpaper going down his face. Corrode the filth, is he feels so horrible about himself and those hurtful tears corrode his skin which he feels is filthy due to his anorexia and possibly the fact that he also hates himself because of his body dis-morphia and the fact that he can't seem to overcome this so painful disease. He's shameful that at times he "needs it somehow" he feels remorse for that as well. Just my humble opinion and we have established that he eventually did overcome the disease but when writing the song he was in the throes of it. IE: the wheelchair scene and obviously although you can see his face is so beautiful but his body, painfully thin. He has spoken about his ordeal with ana many times in interviews.

A brilliant, talented man by the name of Nick Cave. Obviously you don't understand and by the way you write I am not surprised.
