I adore this song. Kind of what I was expecting off Neighborhoods, unlike Up All Noight and Heart's All Gone. Just throwing this idea out there because I'm usually wrong about these things, but it sounds like it could possibly be about the break-up. Written from Mark to Tom and/or vice versa. "I can't find the best in all of this, But I'm always looking out for you, Cause you're the one I miss, You were driving me crazy" Makes me think of this time I read about Tom being quoted as saying (right after the break-up) that he loved and missed Mark & Travis, etc. The only part I can't really decipher is Mark's part of the chorus. Great song |

First of all, this is most definitely NOT about a relationship. The line "call up a girl that I used to know, fake love for an hour or so" is simply about that urge we get every once in a while to relive something from the past (which could be a relationship, or something else) but at the same time we know that we can't get that back, at least not for more than an hour or so.... :P And it's not about weed, either. Well I mean, it is, but it's deeper than that too. "who says I can't get stoned" is his way of saying "Whatever, I do what I want!" :) "I don't remember you looking any better, but then again I don't remember you" - I can't really describe what that line means to me but it's really pretty.....I like it. :) I love this song and John. <3 |

This song still makes me want to tear up. Basically every song Mark or Tom wrote about the breakup does. But, they're back together now so it's all good. :) "Do you know what it's like to believe? It makes me wanna scream." Sooo beautiful. You can tell how passionate Tom is about his music and everything that's important to him. That's what I adore about that man. :) Also I love how he says "Sorraaaayyyy". hehe. :D Such a gorgeous voice. |

Best AvA song, definitely. I respected and admired Tom before I heard this, but after I heard it I just felt like I understood and looked up to him way more. I love this part: "And everyday I wake I tell myself another harmless lie, the whole wide world is mine." I used to look at Tom as kind of acting like a dick when he was being all cocky about AvA. But I think this part of the song basically says there's nothing wrong with believing in yourself. Sooo beautiful. I respect him loads more than I did before I really listened to this. |

Sounds fucking great Hoppus. I fuckin love this song, I love Tom's voice in it, I love how their voices clash and sound amazing together, and I love the direction they went and how it's totally different from anything else they've done, yet still amazing. I think it's one of those times where maybe some of the lyrics have special meaning, but Mark and Tom mostly just put things together because they sounded good. The lyrics don't really mean much to me, but the song as a whole does somehow. Not sure how. "I think I'm falling asleep, but then all that it means is I'll always be dreaming of you..." = fucking cute as fuck. Mark & Tom are goddamn poets. :) |

One of the best blink songs, and possibly the best off of Enema. :D Whenever the subject of chicks comes up I have the urge to scream "GIIIRLSSS ARE SUCHHH A DRAAAG!" and sometimes I do. xD It pretty much speaks for itself; I LOVE the last verse: "Fuck this place I lost the war I hate you all Your mom's a whore Where's my dog? 'Cause girls are such a drag" Totally sums up how (I would imagine) a teenage guy would feel after the chick he loves chooses another dude over him. Hating everything (Fuck this place), feeling like its the end of the world (I lost the war), Coming up with every random insult for that guy he can think up (Your moms a whore), and then giving up and resorting to fucking his dog (and his ass). xD This song is total classic blink. :) |

I love this song. Mark has always said that this is his favorite blink song, so I love it even more because of that.:) I guess basically it's about a dude being so desperate to stay with his lady, but she's completely sick of him. "Let's try this one more time with feeling" = He wants to start over again, but have it work out this time. Also I love when Mark does his little bass solos. :D BLINK IS THE GREATEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO MUSIC, AND THE WORLD IN GENERAL. Period. :) |

To me, it's pretty obvious this was about Tom.... "Please understand, this isn't just goodbye. This is I can't stand you." Mark never wants to see Tom again. "This is where the road crashed into the ocean It rises all around me And now we're barely breathing" The road blink was going down could have been great, but now it's over and Mark is overwhelmed with thoughts of how much greater blink could have been if they had just stayed together. And now they have their own projects, but none of it will ever be as incredible as blink. "A thousand faces [we'll?] choose to ignore" I'm pretty sure it's "we'll"........This line is my favorite. Mark is saying that him and Tom are ignoring all the die-hard blink fans by breaking up, and it's just wrong. "Curse my enemies forever" He won't ever forgive Tom. "Let's slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful" It's like they're slitting their wrists, because they're only causing unnecessary pain by splitting up. And they've destroyed something amazing by splitting up, too. "This desperation leaves me overjoyed With fading lights that lead us past the lives that we destroyed" He's desperate to create something as great as blink, but the new side projects are just "fading lights" compared to their lives when blink was together. "I listen to you cry I cry for less attention" He thinks Tom's new music is too emotional, and not like the old Tom. And he's sick of everyone making a big deal about the blink breakup. "But both my hands are tied And I'm pushed into the deep end" He feels like it's expected of him to create something on the same level as blink, or maybe something better than AvA.... "I listen to you talk, but talk is cheap" He's pissed off about how Tom was being so cocky over AvA. Kind of like he's saying "Oh really, AvA is going to be that great? Prove it." "My mouth is filled with blood from trying not to speak" Mark wants all the bullshit with him an Tom to stop, and he just wants to apologize, but he knows he shouldn't because Tom is just being an asshole. "So search for an excuse, and someone to believe you" He's talking about how Tom is blaming Mark and making up excuses for being a dick, and trying to make everyone believe him & be on his side. "And for interesting moves I'm empty with the need to Curse my enemies forever"..... I'm not totally sure what this means, but maybe he's saying that he doesn't know what else to do but hate Tom for everything he's done. "Lay rotting where I fall I'm dead from bad intentions Suffocated and embalmed" Not sure exactly what this means either, but maybe he's just saying how terrible he feels about the blink breakup, and how he wished it hadn't gone down like that, or at all. "And now all our dreams are cashed in" They were fulfilling their dreams by being in blink, and now that's all over. "You swore you wouldn't lose then lost your brain" He thought that Tom wouldn't ever become what he did, but there he was. "You make a sound that feels like pain" Maybe it means Tom's words are hurting him, or maybe it's just s stab at how much Mark hates AvA. xD ....But that's just what it means to me. :P Hey, maybe it's not about Tom at all. It just really, really, really seems like it is. Maybe they made the title "No, It Isn't" as an answer to the question "Is this about Tom?" and it's just a sarcastic answer, or Mark denying it even though it really is. |

This is definitely my favorite Boxcar Racer song. It reminds me a lot of the "Not Now" by blink....I always imagined these two songs were about the same dude. *shrug* But anyways, to me it's about a guy that's dying, or that just died, and he's asking God to give him one more chance at life. "caught off guard, all worked up the air is as dark and cold as night let me go, i'm not done" -he didn't expect this to happen, and maybe "let me go" means he is wanting to escape from death's clutches....and he isn't done living yet. "I swear i'll take just one lifetime" -he's asking for another chance; just one more lifetime to make up for everything wrong that he's done. "and I, I won't lie, I won't sin maybe i don't wanna go can't you wait? maybe i don't wanna go" -he's telling God that if he gets another chance, he won't lie or sin. and he's getting tired of begging and just starts saying "maybe I don't wanna go. can't you wait?", thinking maybe if he's more forceful, God will give him another chance, but deep down he knows that won't happen. "I should've asked, I could've helped at least a fuckin' thousand times before" -he's reflecting on all the times he could have done things differently, and he realizes that there were tons of things he did wrong. he starts to get really angry with himself and how he could have done the right thing but didn't at least "a thousand fucking times". "will this offer, get me in? or does this prove that they gave more?" -now he's coming to terms with the fact that he's dying and there is nothing he can do about it. so he wonders if maybe caring enough about the things he did wrong will get him to heaven anyways....or if admitting to all those things just proved that he didn't deserve to go to heaven more than anyone else did. ....So yeah, that's just what it means to me. I feel like I can completely understand this song.:) |
