@[cubbyblues:16653] i really like this interpretation. i think another part of it is he's almost half given up and not taking any more chances. also, he's dreaming of what life could be like if he would take chances. "i wonder how it feels to be famous, but wonder is as far as i will go" "so it's probably best i stay in indiana" just keeping to himself, in "indiana" and not venturing out to take chances. |

i definitely agree with the suicide part. this is really just a sad song. "it's all quiet for the first time, with no voices left to fall i saw. a boy at the bottom of the bridge and his car at the top" that is just sad. but the song as a whole is just amazing. |

the first time i heard this song, i knew it was gonna be one of those songs that would have a big impact. when one finds a great song (like this one), it is easy for them to relate certain times of their lives to a specific song. the lyrics are just wonderful. and i really enjoyed reading everyone's interpration and what they have to share. i showed this song to my girlfriend, and thought she would like it, it turned out she loved it. it has such a catchy chorus. the first thing that my girlfriend said to me was that we are going to have our rough times and bumps along the way, but this will bring us back to the "first time" we met, and every time i think of the first date we went on i begin to tear up, because she is just such a wonderful person.
