Led Zeppelin – In the Evening Lyrics | 4 months ago |
I think this song is about heroin. Page and Bonham would work on the album in the evening and it was know that they were into drugs while Plant and Jones worked during the day on the album relatively clean. So don't you let her Oh, get under your skin It's only bad luck and trouble From the day that you begin No use hiding in a corner 'Cause that won't change a thing If you're dancing in the doldrums One day soon, it's got to stop, it's got to stop |
The Who – Did You Steal My Money Lyrics | 7 years ago |
This was outlined in his book Who am I. He was given a large sum of cash, $50K I think. He went out with a female friend, partied and lost the money. He was not quite sure who took it. |
Tom Petty – Casa Dega Lyrics | 7 years ago |
This song is about a spiritual retreat in Florida called Cassadaga. He is talking abut meeting a girl there and Bible versus = Oh baby now I think I'm starting to believe the things that I've heard, Cause tonight in casa dega I hang on every word And reads the lines of a stranger His intent - Baby fools pay the price of a whisper in the night in casa dega Time rolls by, night is only night, can I save you? |
Fiona Apple – Please Please Please Lyrics | 8 years ago |
I love the drum into and the whole song. This is about the lizard brain and the music industry. Lizard brain is refers to the oldest part of the brain, the brain stem, responsible for primitive survival instincts such as aggression and fear ("flight or fight"). Change is very hard for the lizard brain.......give us something familiar, something similar....steady going nowhere (i.e., not changing) |
XTC – The Mayor Of Simpleton Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Mayor of Simpleton was on the Oranges and Lemons album. This was the album after XTC's biggest seller to date Skylarking. "XTC, 'Skylarking' - 100 Best Albums of the Eighties | Rolling ... www.rollingstone.com/...best-albums.../xtc-skylarking-201... Rolling Stone. Skylarking, as it turned out, was the album that broke XTC to a larger audience in .... It was the second best-selling album of 1985 in the UK. Skylarking was produced by Todd Rundgren, a much touted "genius". Todd and Andy had epic clashes during the recording of this album. Todd was very cold to the band (esp Andy) because he was under order to get the album done quickly without the antics that Andy was famous for wearning down producers to get his way. Colin Molding actually left the band during these session for a short time. I think that Mayor of Simpleton is a poke from Andy to Todd saying, you may be a technical and musical wizard, but that does not count for much when it comes down to true human emotions. |
Led Zeppelin – That's the Way Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song is about Led Zep's disenchantment with America. The girl is a metaphor for the USA. They had some rough experiences and did not want to return. |
Lynyrd Skynyrd – Gimme Back My Bullets Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Can't confirm, but I always thought that this was a metaphor for the music business and how the band did not like the BS (e.g., fast talking people done ran me out of town/pencil pushers, etc) and that they were talented enough they would rise up again to spite them (i.e., Well I've been on top, and then it seems I lost my dream). |
Joni Mitchell – Car On A Hill Lyrics | 13 years ago |
