Stars – The 400 Lyrics | 10 years ago |
painful memories, the numbing repetition of daily mundane routine, an ever-present sense of loss. and through it all, hope. discouraged, desperate hope, but hope nonetheless. |

Local Natives – Who Knows Who Cares Lyrics | 10 years ago |
this is like the pinnacle of music. now i may be writing this semi-drunk, but this song is the complete package. the whimsical-yet-musing melody, the beautifully flowing lyrics, the layered instruments, the slow build, the rumbling climax, his voice... good heavens. i really don't think it gets any better than this. music has peaked, folks. i saw them live when they played loufest in st louis this year. i loved the rest of their show, but when they launched into this, i was floored. it's the closest to spirituality i guess i'll ever come. it was four or five minutes of pure nirvana. well done, local natives. |

Wu Lyf – T R I U M P H Lyrics | 11 years ago |
took me a while to figure these lyrics out, so i'm open to suggestions. i used the lyrics posted on rapgenius.com as a starting point, but made a few changes: -i think he says "you don't have to unlive this live," not "you don't have to live this life," which makes more sense to me when viewed in light of the overall ideas ellery's expressing in the song -i think he says "don't run away from it," instead of "go run away," which, again, fits with the theme of the song (in my opinion) -i added "in this world" to the end of "you are the only god." you can hear him say it more softer -i added the last stanza which was missing from the other site regardless, what an amazing song, and indeed, a triumphant way to go out for one of the best bands i've ever heard. i still hold out hope that ellery will return and they'll make some more music. this is visionary stuff. |
Surfer Blood – Miranda Lyrics | 12 years ago |
nicely done, i think you pretty much nailed it. to me, it sounds like he says "Which [demons] to expel", and i agree that [God figures] is the best guess for the next line. it might be "or make it known to me" before that, but "make it up to me" sounds equally good. thanks for submitting this! again, good work. |

The talking portion, as close as I can tell: I'm just gonna open up The gate Tell people just to think For themselves for a change What's your greatest fear? I ain't scared of nothing No one No man, no time I got 80, 90, 100 years here Ima do my thing I ain't scared of nothing Everything I've ever been afraid of has already been taken away |
Destroyer – Poor in Love Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Thanks, you're right. I also think it's "... born again, rich in him alone...", so I'm updating that too. |
