Lisa Hannigan – Ocean and a Rock Lyrics 12 years ago
I believe the song meaning is about Lisa falling in love with someone who lives in Ireland. However, Lisa is on the road a lot in other countries. Perhaps she is in the United States in this song. She can't stop thinking about him, even though he is literally an "ocean and a rock" away, which is a very poetic way of referring to the other side of the world. The end of the song shows the hope in her returning to Ireland.

Neverending White Lights – Goodbye Lyrics 12 years ago
I think the song is about a one sided relationship. The man desperately loved and wanted to continue the relationship, but the girl didn't. It is as if the girl entered the relationship just as a rebound, and there was never any depth, contrary to what the man believed. As the man pursued, the woman was already off doing something else. The fact that "Goodbye" is emphasized so much in the song is a compensation for the fact the word was never said, and there was never any real closure to the relationship. This makes the man have a false hope for a restoration, and therefore constant tears. The end of the song is the man finally coming to the realization that he was used and has a "knife in his heart." The end of the song is the man finally being able to say "Goodbye."

Secret And Whisper – XOXOXO Lyrics 13 years ago
"machinery, don't fail me
i'm fixing these things
as we're falling apart"

Most likely a reference to trying to fix a relationship over the phone in conversation or text, possibly even a computer.

"shes drawing x and o's
into her pantyhose
you know the city where i come from
(the city where i come from)
the secrets im never telling anyone"

The girl in the relationship was most likely a cutter, and would cut herself on her thighs, and the singer is expressing how he wont tell people her problem.

"we were walking to the corner store
when she'd cry and start to hide
we were talking about the dinosaurs
and how they died, and how they died"

This is the only line in the song that speaks of a flashback, maybe even the last time they physically saw each other. The writer is expressing the irony in the last line, how they were talking about how the dinosaurs died, which foreshadowed their relationship about to die.

Starflyer 59 – M23 Lyrics 13 years ago
"Can I rely, can I?
In the twinkling of an eye...
Of an eye, we'll rise

So I'll rely on Christ
In the twinkling of an eye
We'll rise"

Definitely referring to the rapture in the Bible, where Jesus Christ comes for the church in a quick manner like the "twinkling of an eye." I believe the song is about having faith in that.

Starflyer 59 – Trucker's Son Lyrics 13 years ago
Being Jason Martin is a believer in Jesus Christ, it comes out in a lot of his songs. I believe this one is no different.

"Thank your lucky stars
No matter where they are
'Cause it's possible
This is only a dream
And you might wake up someplace far away
A place where you're still young
Oh wait, this is a dream"

This sounds like a call to really examine the meaning of life, because everyone will die someday and "wake up" face to face with the creator of the universe (a place far away). He keeps saying throughout the song "this is a dream" due to the fact this life is but a vapor. This life will end quickly and we will wake up to the eternal reality when we die.

"Hesitate, ALL IS lost
Shouldn't I count the cost
Of being born not number one?
I was born a trucker's son
I was born a... a trucker's son"

I believe the chorus means that if you don't make a decision about who your God and savior is, you will by default go to hell. Therefore all is lost if you hesitate. Counting the cost of living life for others instead of you, and vice versa. Living for yourself will only send you to hell. He states how he was born a trucker's son, most likely stating how he isn't the (truck) driver of his life, but the son. More than likely a reference to Jason Martin's faith in Jesus Christ.

"If it were possible
I would jump in a frame
Change the family name
Oh, if it were only true"

Most likely referring to the fall of Adam and Eve, and Jason Martin's desire to remove sin from the human race.

"I'd wake up somewhere,
Someplace far away
Where there's forever fun
Oh wait, it's the same dream"

Here we find Jason going back to his point before, pointing out how there is a place where everyone longs for. A place of forever fun (heaven). When he says "it's the same dream," he is reinforcing the fact the place exists, and it isn't actually just a dream, but a reality.

In the end, the song looks like a call to "Wake up" spiritually.
