James Taylor – Sunny Skies Lyrics 6 years ago
This is one of my very favorite James Taylor songs. He has such a great easy going, but wistful way he plays. Such a sense of ennui, wistful ennui.

Ween – Ocean Man Lyrics 12 years ago
To all those who say, "this song is about acid because Ween does acid and this song is trippy." I say to you: all kinds of songs are drug INSPIRED, but few are strictly about a drug, especially one like acid. You need to interpret the song a little more closely and look for what the acid inspired them to write about.

I think DoYouRealise has it right in that this song is about evolution. The lines about the crust being cast forth, and the sequence of a life indicate that. Also, we came from the ocean: "life form braised in the sand." But I think this is a personal evolution/growth.

The voyage to the corner of the globe is a real trip: there's your acid inspiration/allusion. But it works in other ways, life's a journey.

Anyway, love the song. Not sure exactly what it means, but it makes me think a little, and I'll be damaged if it's not a catchy tune!

Mumford & Sons – Little Lion Man Lyrics 13 years ago
Obviously this song is wide open to interpretation. Personally, I think this song narrated by a man addressing his son. He is telling his son to be brave through a divorce or bad marriage and apologizing for letting his son down. I was told about this song by a friend whose parents went through a divorce when he was young. That probably influenced the way I heard the song when he said the lyrics were really powerful, which they are.

Little lion man seems like a way to address a child. That's where I started.

I took "Weep little lion man/ You're not as brave as you were at the start" to mean you'll never be as strong as you were when the marriage was still strong.

"Take all the courage you have left/ Wasted on fixing all the problems / That you made in your own head" Children can't always fully comprehend major events around them and often blame themselves for things out of their control, especially when their parents are not getting along. The father is telling his son that the problems of the break-up aren't the same problems the son has decided are the cause.

"But it was not your fault but mine/ And it was your heart on the line/ I really fucked it up this time/ Didn't I, my dear?" This really drives home the father apologizing to his son for me. He accepts fault for his son's problems. It was his son's heart on the line, by omission it wasn't the father or mother's hearts that were vulnerable.

"Tremble little lion man/You'll never settle any of your score" You won't be able to make the marriage right again.

"Your grace is wasted in your face /Your boldness stands alone among the wreck" This just made me picture a vulnerable child trying to put on a brave face amidst the instability and confusion.

"Learn from your mother /Or else spend your days biting your own neck" I took this as an admission on the father's part that he was at fault in the split and telling his son to listen to his mother.

deadmau5 – I Remember (with Kaskade feat. Haley Gibby) Lyrics 13 years ago
You won't find many songs with only comments about the meaning, you'll have to get used to that. IMO it's fine for people to say they like the song, although I would prefer a little example of what they like, otherwise there isn't anything to know other than someone is a fan.

Also, despite saying the meaning may be straightforward, you did not comment on the meaning yourself.

I really like this song. The meaning seems to me that the speaker remembers the love in an old, ended relationship positively, and hopes the other half does too. DarkOnesLuck summed it all up, "you don't have to give up to let go."
