Scissor Sisters – Laura Lyrics 10 years ago
This one makes me so happy that I really don't care if it makes no sense to me what he's saying. The lyrics are brilliant, even if nonsensical, they make sense to me like just by the way they fit in the beat and with each other. I have been listening to this song for years, and every time I get the same feeling that I am being told a wonderful story, that it's perfect even though there are holes (presumably due to the singer being as euphoric as me listening to him).

Junip – Line of Fire Lyrics 11 years ago
I think Gonzalez means that we fight too much, we give in to our feelings of self-entitlement, superiority, judgment, and give out a lot of violence. Then all that violence we give, can come back to us, and kill us (metaphorically, or not). So he recommends to try to break the chain of hate.

Sting – Never Coming Home Lyrics 12 years ago
I just saw Sting live yesterday at The Fillmore in Miami Beach. The version of this song, sang together with his backup singer for the Back to Bass tour, was incredible. At the end they started yelling at the mic facing each other and I think she was saying "You ruined my life" instead of the usual "I'm gonna live my life". It felt really powerful then.

Regina Spektor – Sailor Song Lyrics 13 years ago
There's a famous cabaret in Cuba called Tropicana, American sailors used to visit it. Most likely, Regina has no knowledge of this (although Communie Russian sailors replaced American sailors, and she hails from there). It still made for a nice connection in my mind.

Coldplay – Yes Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this is about a nightly encounter, at a bar or party, 'but night makes a foul of us in daylight' when we realize the person who was so interesting/beautiful last night really isn't. In this case, she's the one who didn't like what she saw the morning after but he still got hung up on her. The 'yes' is more profound than sex, which I think already occured by the time he's singing. He wants her to agree to spend more time with him but (and here goes my stretch) the morning light and the girl 'picked me by the big toe' and let him fall back into his loneliness.

Interpol – The Undoing Lyrics 13 years ago
I think he does sort of a wordplay, it would be something like:
Suele tener-
me suelto
Me suelto en el deshacer
Al puro perder el ganar no compara

I think he elongates the pronunciation of 'Suele tenerme suelto' which means 'It keeps me loose (or lost)'. Otherwise the first line means nothing. If we asume my idea to be right, it would go in English somewhat like this:

It keeps me loose
I get lost in the undoing
To always lose, winning does not compare

I think he means that he finds freedom in the undoing and thus to have the security that he will always loose beats any probable single win.
