I've read that this is about Brian Fallon's grandmother's battle with Alzheimers, which is quite clear from the lyrics really. But i always interpreted it as a letter to an ex-girlfriend, from a relationship which had a painful break up as she was still hung up on her ex and how the narrator is explaining though he has found someone else, he now understands where she was coming from as he too is still hung up on her and will always love her but he knows it is too complicated to go back and they must move on. |

Basically i think this song is a love song. Its about two people in one of those relationships where the two lovers are always fighting and breaking up only to get back togther. I think this is from one, if not both people's points of view (the two singers - male and female) where after a huge fight they realise that this is person they are meant to be with and so set out to find them |
