I believe this is about the turbulence of an unplanned pregnancy and embracing it positively. The first part seems like it speaks of the initial realization. Getting up after conceiving, from the mountains created among sheets and bodies in bed. Only to be halted by the reality of conception. Stopping their movement - injured feet. Open toes - post sexual ecstasy. Anxiety, pacing back & forth. Constructively make the problem something to find pride in (shrines) which among it you'll find her predicament... Pregnancy. The chorus presents that there is an issue but to wrap the harm in gauze, much like a newborn in a blanket. And as most of the lyrics are beautiful metaphors the blanket/gauze alludes to the actual birth itself, which heals the 'wound' of the initial worry. Grateful arms - resulted transcendence/responsibility. The part about the sea men, seems to me, like an analogy of the biological process inside her. Fluids racing her body - conception. It is in their "fathoms", journey through her body that they "brush below". I could be wildly off but that was my first gathering from the first read. Either way, gorgeous lyrics . |

girl is in aw by someone of "celebrity" status, and then referring to Chainsaw Arm's comment, the evil would be happening for the pleasure and leisure of the celebrity, using his powering effect on this poor girl, or others. Shes just his toy hooked onto the guy she's blind to the fact of whats going on and keeps going back for more "menthol" = cigaratee, often perceived as "cool" "spatial girl = innocent, naive "photographs" = famous photographer/celebrity status "the taste shes read earlier today" = his kisses, read about him in a magazine, saw his work around town shy, naive girl, out on the town spots this cool "celebrity" photographer lighting up a smoke, e.r, "Like a transmission, on an empty channel, all lines are closed" like a car would, she comes to a sudden hault over his presence. "Taking photographs, speaking slowly through the permanent waves" = uses his "art" to convince the girl she is "special" thus uses his "EVIL" and gets what he wants, sex, etc. "When the night becomes, automatic sequence joining the day"= sex (a date turns to the bedroom the night sequences into the day, morning after) "Singing something new, someone else is sliding into your way" = next girl for the celebrity, he "sings" something new, sways a new innocent girl, which is now in the way between the first to fall victim and the seducer "Got to get you off my conscience by Friday, On Saturday I'll be wide awake, On Sunday I'm your new best friend, On Monday learn it all again" = the internal conflict of saying she wont go back, but ultimately returning to be used recurring similar them of "Light & Magic" |
