Rise Against – Endgame Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Tim is singing about the result of the choices we've made over the past 100 years coming happening. Our whole governmental system is falling apart, we ran out of the will to go on (Kerosene symbolism for nothing left to burn, also literal meaning). But then it takes a sudden turn. He looks at the fields And his hands "All I need is what I have" Then shed a tear of happiness She watched the world Crumple away "Is this the end of yesterday?" "Lord, I hope so" Is all he said Gone are the old guards Gone are the cold, cold wars Weightless we go forth On wings of amnesty The speaker realizes that now that teh sytem of life we once had is gone, so are all of it's problem. It's time for a fresh start. No more religions, wars, no more burden of apocalypse. Let's just hope we dont fuck up again. |

Also It says names in the last verse if you listen closely. This song is incredibly sad |

This is not a solid meaning, but it comes to my mind when I listen to the song. My favorite book series of all time is the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. It's a big , 12 book series with each book being 700 - 1000 pages. Like RA, the books are filled with meaning. I was reading one of the books, and this song came on. After listening to the lyrics closely, I seemed that this song was made for the book. No joke. It's almost as if it's the series crammed into a few verses. A Anyway, that's just my feeling. I doubt that RA actually based this song on the books, but they both have the same beliefs. |
